This is a very fast, well-made computer for the price and features provided. I purchased it to run Mint Linux on a second, external Samsung 980 1TB SSD M.2 NvME Interface.I did have to update my Mint Linux 20.2 (Latest Release) with the 5.15.x (x=6) Kernel from "Mainline" Kernel Repository to ensure that my WiFi adapter was properly detected, the default Linux Kernel provided by Mint Linux 20.2 did not support the MEDIATEK mt7921 WiFi Network Adapter.I did have to disable the secure boot option in my Linux Partition using the Linux "mokutil" application in order to run the 5.15.x Linux Kernel (not signed) with WiFi support, please reference the following link for instructions/use: https://askubuntu.com/questions/1119734/how-to-replace-or-remove-kernel-with-signed-kernels. By using "mokutil" linux application you will not have to change your secure boot BIOS settings. I did not want to change secure boot in the BIOS since I am running Windows 11 Home in the internal NvME m.2 drive.I have been running Mint Linux for 3 weeks with the configuration that I purchased which has only 8Gbytes of RAM and it runs great! Memory use (RAM) is usually between 1.7 and 2.5 GBytes with multiple applications running, Mint Linux is very memory efficient.This is a great little computer, nice keyboard, display and good battery life, I recommend it if you are looking for a well-priced, quality laptop to run Linux and Windows 11.

Great laptop for college and video games like Minecraft

As far as the computer itself - the processing speed, memory, time to boot up, lack of crashes, and overall value it's a great laptop. The aluminum body is strong, and still lightweight, it's a little cold however if you put it on your bare legs on a cool day! My only big problem with the laptop is the keyboard. It is backlit which is great, but the letters are so thin and small, and there's so little contrast between the white letters and the silver keys they are very hard to read. Normally when I'm typing something like a letter that's not an issue, but when I'm trying to peck at the keys to enter a password, it demands my full attention. Other than that I'm very happy with this laptop.

I asked for advice on Reddit for what kind of laptop would best suit my usage, and this was by far the most recommended. I am so glad I listened to the advice! I make closed captions for a living, so I am constantly typing and researching. The keys are responsive and the backlighting is nice. I had some concerns about the power button's placement in the upper right corner where the delete button usually is but I have not had trouble accidentally pressing it like I thought I would. I dislike the layout of the tiny left and right buttons placed right below page up and page down. I am often pressing the wrong button, but this will improve with time.Graphics are beautiful compared to my last laptop which was literally 11 years old. I wish the screen could be dimmed more than it is to protect my eyes, but I use f.lux to modify the screen brightness since I use my laptop all day every day.My greatest issue with the laptop is that the speakers are placed beneath the laptop. On even the loudest setting, the sound is unusually quiet compared to any other laptop I have used. When the laptop is on your lap, the sound is severely muffled, barely audible even on the highest settings. Because of this I almost always use headphones (thanks Acer for not getting rid of the headphone jack!!) Overall I am thrilled with my purchase and plan to stick with Acer for future laptop purchases.Update: nearly 2 years into my purchase, and this laptop is holding up strong! Some of the metal finish is beginning to chip from the touch pad and the keys, but they still work perfectly fine. I work full-time on this laptop and only in the past few weeks has the battery shown slight signs of decline. Very impressed with this purchase. I'd absolutely buy it all over again!

Taken into account it's one of the rare laptops that offers a 500 GB SSD, it's worth the money on that alone. Acer SSDs are among the fastest and most reliable compared to even something like Dell. Like all Acers I've purchased previously, it doesn't have any WiFi drops. This is crucial as I video conference for a living. Unfortunately, my Dell precision drops way too frequently. It has an amazing battery power that goes a little bit beyond my 6 year old Acer Aspire. I didn't see any good deals on Acer Aspire this time around, nor anything from Asus, so I went with the Swift series this time around. The finger print scanner for password recognition is a cool new feature in all current generation laptops. It works like a charm!

Bought Acer Swift 3 Thin & Light Laptop February 22,2022. Used maybe 20 times and had no computer “accidents” such as dropping etc. Screen is black so I contacted Acer who assisted with the pinhole “”restart” via phone which was not successful. I was surprised to learn that to send my Acer for an undiagnosed problem would cost $ 464.99 in repairs. This is an almost two year old! product which I bought for $649.99! According to the Rep their only repair center is in Texas And there was no supervisor that I might speak with. I had looked for reviews about Acers before I bought it ( first time) and saw positive reviews. Please don’t make the Mistake I did. In contrast to this Acer, I have two HP laptops 15 and 13 years old which are still running! So please don’t waste your money on this company like I did.*Reached out to Amazon Agent and a supervisor and they were unable to assist me with the defective product and unable to contact Acer for any additional support.* Internet is saying that the average life of an Acer is 4-6 years, so this lemon produced by a foreign country factory during the pandemic seems defective to me.
