This review is for the movie and the Arrow Blu-ray Limited edition.PLOT...A lonely hair stylist becomes obsessed with the lives of her clients and descends into murderous madness.The Stylist 2020 is based on an award winning short film by the same name, very well done Arrow picking up another classic gem for their expanding line of great movies. The story follows Claire played by Najarra Townsend who is absolutely brilliant as the lead (also very beautiful) she's a very troubled woman mentally in her head, professional hair stylist by day, complete psychopath killer by night! She picks out her victims carefully usually people in her life she likes to imitate and pretend to be! Its a bit of a similarity to the movie Maniac but with a strong female lead instead. Some good looking practical effects and bloody violence throughout. The movie ends on a shocking high note and who knows what happens to her character after this movie but its a really good modern horror slasher that also feels oldschool at the same time. I was reminded of the movie 'May' which was a lot better and way more gruesome.I would've preferred more gore, more discomfort, more storyline.Still, I enjoyed this movie. Plenty of faults and room for improvement but not a bad way to pass the time.

I love this film so much. We are seeing more woman directing horror films which helps to revitalize the genre. It is also refreshing to see contemporary life through the eyes of a woman. It reminded me of Cindy Sherman’s “Office Killer”

105 minutes you'll NEVER get back. That's the actual horror...

In many ways this wasn't original, but it's so stylishly filmed it's a great watch anyway. Happy with my purchase.

I enjoy horror films and had been excited to watch this one, having read about it and it's kickstarter campaign a long time ago.Although there are things to like about The Stylist, I ultimately did not feel that the story is all that it could have been. The premise is definitely creepy, the idea of a hairdresser killing her clients and keeping their hair is certainly intriguing and horrifying, but there is not any great depth. Claire comes across as shy and awkward, but no back story is given beyond her looking through a photo album and saying she doesn't like weddings. She's good looking, well dressed and I can't see what would make her this way. A fleeting flashback or a confession to someone she trusts could have gone a long way. I especially think that it doesn't make sense that she wants people's hair, when her own is damn near perfect.The acting is fine, the movie is beautifully shot with some interesting shots and set pieces, and the overall mood is great. However the story let me down. As soon as a wedding was mentioned I was pretty sure I could tell where this was going to go, and I was correct. I discovered this film was based on an earlier short film. Perhaps it is better staying in short form as there was not really enough depth to make a great full length feature. The stylist is sadly just ok. I don't regret seeing it but I am a bit disappointed, it could have been so much more.
