This is a nice very light
5 stars if you know what you need it for / do your research beforehand. This is a nice very light, small and very, very quite pump.I chose it to supply water from a tank to a garden shower in our cabin. As an initial test I connected a 3/4" garden hose, about 12ft long and placed the pump in a bucket with about 8gal of water.Placing the hose on the ground, the water was flowing at a good rate but as expected for this type of pump not with a lot of pressure. (less than what you would see with a normal garden hose).Holding the hose end up, first 6ft then 9ft, the water output went of course down. At 9 ft it was about half / may be 4 gal/ minute. After 2 to 3 minutes the bucket was empty which adds up to above observations and the technical information provided by the manufactured. There was some residual water in the bucket because the distance between the pump inlet and the strainer (the blue part) is about 0.5".I will power this pump with a 12V 7Ah deep cycle battery and a 10W solar panel.

works as advertized
I bought this pump as a transfer pump to move maple sap from barrel to barrel. Mounted on a stainless bracket it reaches within an inch or so of the bottom of a 55 gal plastic drum. Now my garden tractor and trailer can collect sap from the trees directly into a drum or pump from the truck drum into the trailer drum. When collected the sap is taken to the sugar shack and downloaded into the drums there. All this used to be bailed out in 5 gallon buckets. The pump works great since it only has to pump high enough to get out of the drum. It only takes 5 to 10 minutes to transfer a drumful. Being 12 volt makes it easy to use wherever the garden tractor can go. I just slip the whole bracket, pump, and hose into the drum I want to empty and flip the switch.

Excellent pump.
I bought this pump for my old 16Ft fiberglass V bottom boat which had some major leaks. I was shocked at how small it was, and didn't think it would move much water. I was very surprised. It is excellent. I am not sure about the 500GPH rating, but it does a great job on my small boat, which it only has to pump the water about 2 ft of elevation. I bought this pump based on other reviewers who were using it for pond pumps with years of 24/7 use. I am very happy with it especially for the price. I wanted to buy brand name because I didn't want an off brand pump to fail when I really needed it.

3 year warranty - lasted 3 uses and 3 years/1 month. Funny!
Funny... I purchased this little pump on April 4, 2013 for one purpose, only - to pump out the little water left in the bottom on my above-ground pool when I drain it at the beginning of each summer. I used it in May 2013, May 2014, and May 2015. It worked for just a short while last night before dying. It's funny because it has a 3 year warranty and lasted 3 years and 1 month. For the price, even though we only used it successfully 3 times, I guess it was pretty good. The big issue is that now I have to order another and wait for it to arrive and I have someone here NOW to help me get the pool open. BEST CHEAP PUMP FOR POND AND WATERFALL YOU WILL FIND...PERIOD!
THIS IS THE BEST LOW COST PUMP YOU WILL FIND FOR USE IN YOUR WATERFALL/POND SYSTEM OR GENERAL BILGE USE. I have purchased 6 over the last five years - for several waterfalls and ponds. They run 24 hours a day 365 days a year in temps from -10 to 100. They have dry run for days at a time. AVG life is about one year - Keep in mind that that is: 8,760 HOURS OF OPERATION. If you are actually using as a bilge pump, you could use it 10 hours a week and it should last close to 20 years! It also swaps out in about 5 minutes, is SUPER easy to install, and consumes VERY LOW 12vt power, so it can be run on a battery or solar system. One of the best finds I have made on Amazon.

Best Bilge for a Jetski
I use these for stand-up jetskis and they are by far the best ones. I have used a couple other brands and they always break, not to mention the Rule's have the smallest footprint of them all. I have had two of these in my personal ski for 3 seasons now with no issues...they seems to keep going and going. The entire time I go out i leave them on, so they are on for 2-3 hours at a time for me.If you're going to get a 500GPH bilge, do yourselve a favor and get a rule. The other brands die out pretty quickly. These are the best.

Reasonably Priced, Good for smaller bilge areas.
Works as described, small footprint for cramped bilge areas, installs easily with nice long wires included.Internet boating reviews gives Rule pumps high marks. Worked fine to pump out the bilge in my Alumacraft Lunker Ltd after/during a heavy rain storm. Took water down to about 1/8" in the bottom back of the boat. Never let it get to the deck, kept ahead of the rain.If you have a very tall outlet to push water to such as three or four feet, this may not have the power to do it at a good capacity, but if you're only pushing water a foot or two feet up and out as in most regular fishing or bass boats, it will do just fine.

Sadly, Rule is now using cheap metal that disintegrates in salt water. The ones from the 1990s lasted many years longer!
A year later, I have to revise this review. THESE ARE MADE OF LOUSY, CHEAP METAL!!!! Their mesh covering was completely disintegrated after just a single season in salt water. Previously versions of the same Rule part had lasted for years! My guess is that Rule has no idea that their supplier has cheaped out on the mesh that is being provided to them. Somebody needs to communicate to Rule that using lousy, cheap metals doesn't please the customer! Please go back to the better material that you used to use in the 1990s! Following this is my original review, which I wrote a bit tongue-in-cheek. But, this one (above) is serious. These have to be absolutely THE BEST bilge strainers on the planet. I mean, like, I just can't get over how wonderful they are. When you need a bilge strainer, these are absolutely THE thing to get. They strain bilge so fabulously that I just can't get over how great they are! More people need to get into bilge straining so that they can experience these sorts of things. Too bad that I can't find a way to "like" these on Face Book so that the whole world can discover the wonders of this stainless steel bilge strainer.

Excellent pump, shame about the lack of a connnector with the built in recommended fuse.
Excellent pump. Using it on my allotmenet with a lithium battery. Needs better and longer cabling with some form of standard plug to connect easier to a power supply. Once you have a plug you can adapt it but with just two wires there is a bit of work to do.

OEM original part
Good product. Good price. I don’t like the 3/4” straight pipe thread. Tapered thread would be better. Very easy to strip thread.
