Q: is this compatible with mac book air apple laptops?

Q: Is this scanner compatible with a surface pro 3 tablet?

From what I can see, the Surface PRO 3 runs a full version of Windows, and has a USB port, so yes, this scanner should work just fine with it. However, since you will not be able to use the installation CD, you will have to either provide the installation drivers via wifi or a usb flash stick. The software can be obtained easily from the manufacturer's website.

Q: Does it have a rechargeable battery or require AA batteries?

Dear Jodi, Thank you for your question. The TravelScan Pro is powered by USB only and does not have batteries. Our TravelScan Pro 300 (Amazon ASIN B081QTXVG1) is our battery powered scanning option which uses (3) AAA batteries.
