Instructions Poor: Read THIS to Assemble Easily
This is a good product though there is a problem with the instructions: In step 2 the drawing does not match the part provided. However, I have just successfully assembled my Wolf 106320 bench, without ringing the Helpline or drilling the brackets or making any other adjustments. Follow step 1. Then llook carefully at the 4 x 'box' brackets on the slide bases, and you will see a steel pin with a spring inside the box. Press the end of the spring and it moves in and out..press and hold whilst simultaneously pulling half of the same bracket to swing round to 90 degrees: this completely opens up the 'box' and leaves the plate with the 4 holes exposed. You can now align the plate and 4 holes up with the 4 pre-drilled holes in the wood crossbar. Do this for each of the 4 'box' brackets - note that it is easier to do both on ONE piece of wood crossbar first, then open out the other 2 'boxes' to attach to the 2nd crossbar. Voila! Finish steps 3 & 4. The design is actually superior to the original, as once the whole bench is assembled, you can press these steel pins and rotate the crossbars into a vertical position enabling you to hold a larger piece of wood between them! I am a middle aged woman and I managed this in my kitchen - it's the instructions that need to be changed, not the product.

Truly a prince amongst portable workbenches.
I have been looking for a suitable replacement for my lovely but ancient B&D workmate but everything I have looked at previously has been very poor and flimsy but then along came this beastie.Substantial is probably the best word to describe this as it is built like a tank. Very stable, quite heavy and with lots of interesting features but the best bit about it for me is the solid aluminium jaws, no plywood or MDF to warp, split or get sawn through on this bit of kit.The assembly is certainly "challenging" and I strongly suggest you read the instructions several times before commencing but it takes less than half an hour to get it all together going at a leisurely pace. The operation of the jaw winding handles are a wee bit counter-intuitive in that they work in the opposite way to most vices but that is a very small niggle considering how well engineered the bench is as a whole.Be warned though, this is a HEAVY item and definitely one that stretches the definitions of the word "portable" so don't expect to be running up a flight of stairs with it, but it has clearly been built to last and take a lot of hammering and bashing with ease along with the more precision stuff. .

Needs clearer instructions
Nice bench, but can be frustrating to assemble. I have added a couple of photos. When fitting the tops, there is a sprung pin which you need to push, to flip the plate with the screw holes on the sliders. Otherwise you'll never get them in. Not in the instructions, and if you don't spot it, be prepared to rage in frustration.

Answer to my problem
I'd been using my old Black and Decker Workmate for years and had been suffering with a bad back every time, due to my height 6'2" and the low height of the table. Had toyed with the idea of adapting it until I saw this. Because the table is adjustable and can be raised to a decent height, it's ideal. I would have given it a 5 if it wasn't for the foot release which is a bit awkward as you have to it push towards you. Also operating the two side levers while trying to extend the table from the closed position is very difficult as with both hands occupied on the levers there are no hands left to pull the table out. Having said all that, once up and ready it's sturdy and reasonably light. But as I say the main feature for me is the adjustable height, which I have found to be a real boon.

OK average build quality
Made out of the usual thin tin, the whole thing is quite floppy for accurate sawing, to use many of its feature you need three hands - to tilt the top you have to press in the side locks on either side which are spring loaded, so either use your head to change the angle or call a friend. Not well designed at all.The locks and actuators are hard to operate, they jam and are badly fitting floppy tabs.A nd they don't fully assemble it so expect to spend an hour doing what should have been done in the factory, they hide that fact in the ad.

Disappointing and flimsy
Arrived quickly but that was about the only positive. The packaging was sealed with scrappy tape stating 'Repacked by Yodel' without explanation. The box stated the item to be a product by Wolf, nowhere on the item itself is that confirmed as suggested in the product image. The bench itself is flimsy and and low quality, a part bent during construction but bent back easily enough using one hand, demonstrating that you get what you pay for. I have my doubts about this being a genuine Wolf product. The instructions are brief and unhelpful and have obviously been reprinted by the seller, which reinforces my doubts as to its authenticity.I have kept it as I only need this one for very light work and some small model projects, so it will do, but I certainly would not trust it for any real DIY work and would not buy again. If you need a workbench of this type, look at alternatives, a few more pounds will buy far better.

Not as good as a Black and Decker
Great fast delivery on this item - next day.The work bench itself however doesn't match the service. If you are thinking of upgrading from the old blue Black & Decker WorkMate, this isn't a patch on it.Assembly is straight forward and the instructions are easy enough to follow though use a 10mm socket and spanner to tighten the fitting correctly. The metal work surface is fine though the handles don't match up and seem to rotate the wrong way for the usual opening/closing which is strange but not exactly a deal breaker. The pins that hold the adjustable height function are however not great. It feels as though it could fall at any moment (though it hasn't - yet)You also could do with 3 hands for folding it up/erecting it to use each time as there are 2 push bolts on the side and then you need to try and grapple with the top to push it down.Overall - no where near as good as the Black & Decker WorkMate
