Orbi finally provides me with the speed I pay for and more
I just received the Orbi system today. To make the price tag for this WiFi 6 router more bearable, I went with a renewed product. So far I am ecstatic.Set up with the Orbi App was a breeze. It took maybe 10 minutes to have everything going, and that includes the firmware updates for both, the router and the satellite.I had a Netgear Nighthawk RAX75 before that, and it worked well enough, however, when I added additional outdoor cameras to my security system, several had problems connecting to the internet; probably because of the distance between routers and cameras.I put the satellite on my enclosed Lanai and tested all cameras immediately for connection issues, and there were none. All my cameras have a strong connection now and work as they should.Another perk is the significantly increased speed. I have a gig speed plan with Xfinity and pay for speeds up to 1Gbs, but with my Nighthawk the maximum speed from provider modem to Netgear router was always at around 640 Mbs. As you can see on the picture, the Orbi measures 1,371 Mbs (1.3 Gbs). This means I finally receive the speed I pay for and more ;-).During installation I changed the Orbi Network Name to my existing network, and all my devices connected without problems automatically. The Orbi App is almost identical with the Nighthawk app, so there is really no learning curve here.As I mentioned earlier, I placed the satellite on my Lanai. It is at least 35 feet away from the main router with a concrete wall and glass doors separating the two. However, there are no connection problems whatsoever. The connection is of the highest possible quality.Time will tell, if the Orbi doesn’t have daily disconnection problems as sometimes happened with the Nighthawk. If the Orbi is more stable than the Nighthawk, I will be even more satisfied with my new setup than I already am.I have a subscription for NETGEAR’s Armor Security. I went to the support website and started a support case, then I called Netgear to have my Armor subscription moved to the Orbi System. According to the rep I talked to, the subscription will be transferred within 24-48 hours. If Orbi continues to work the way it does right now, I can definitely recommend this Mesh system! It does everything I hoped for and more.

Working well, so far
I bought these to replace my Netgear Orbi RBS20 I've used for five years. I like to buy new tech, since I'm more certain of what I'm getting. However, the Orbi router line has gotten SO pricey, I figured I'd give these 'renewed' products a try. They arrived in like-new condition, and since I'm experienced in setting up and maintaining an Orbi router, these were very easy to get online. I've noticed much quicker responses in some instances, which is why I bought them, and overall they are a speed improvement on the RBS20.I have gig service, and these have peaked at 940ish Mbps up/down in speed tests. I'm hoping for a little more performance, so I'll keep running the tests and tweaking settings.

Simply amazing
So we thought we had a great router with the Netgear Nighthawk Smart WiFi Router (R7000P) - AC2300. Super fast, right? Still, one kid comes home from college and still complaining about the wifi speed in his room, 30ft from the Nighthawk. I am in my office, happy with the 150-200Mbps I get. But it was time for a test, try one of these new mesh systems, if it doesnt work we can always return it to Amazon.Came yesterday, installation was easy thanks to so many videos on youtube, and surprise! 1Gbps on my desktop? Upwards of 600 on all wireless devices? Yup, these are download speeds of course, but still, one hell of a difference. If you need speed and range, there is no better solution.

Works Great, but Setup was Difficult
Update 5/23/22: after a bit over a month, I can say the Wi-Fi is strong, stable, and very fast. A very noticeable and significant improvement over my prior mesh system. I've never had to reset the routers after the original setup. Given how well it has been working, I added a star and updated the headline.Original review: I purchased this as a "Renewed" item. The instructions push you to using a phone app for setup. I tried 8 or 9 times, physically resetting the router and satellite between each attempt. It was not able to connect to the network, and it was not able to find the satellite. It was very frustrating and I almost gave up and returned it. I assumed it was broken, and that was why it was returned to begin with. I found a hint online to connect to the Wi-Fi signal with a computer and then use a browser to do the setup instead. That worked, and I also had to update the router and satellite firmware. Setup took over 3 hours. Seems to be working now. I used a popular mesh router prior to this and the setup was a breeze. Was disappointed by the setup for this Orbi but the Wi-Fi signal seems strong and fast so far. Will update after a while to see how it goes.

Do NOT buy "Renewed"
I actually bought the "renewed" by accident, but when I realized it I thought I would give it a shot anyway because of the discount off of the new ones. Immediately had a little bit of trouble setting it up, had to reset and retry a couple of times, but eventually got it all up and working. I was a little suspicious, but figured Wi-Fi is tricky sometimes so maybe they were just one time setup issues. Thus began an incredibly frustrating week of random drops of various devices, inability to connect to a printer despite trying all kinds of tricks for 45 minutes, and just general all-around flakiness that wasn't ever a complete system-wide failure but enough to completely drive me nuts. Sometimes a reboot of either the router or the satellite would fix it for a while but the problems kept coming back. It finally dawned on me that "renewed" probably just meant that somebody else had sent it back (presumably because of the same defects/problems I was hitting), and when the seller plugged it in and it booted successfully they slapped a new label on it and sent it back out the door to the next unsuspecting customer (me). Just FYI I've been in the computer industry for 25 years so it wasn't just newbie growing pains - I spent probably 8 hours of my life over that first 10 days trying to get everything running correctly that I'll never get back. Lesson learned, never buying "renewed" again!
