Kuma. Complete Works 1988–Today. 2021 Edition (Multilingual Edition)

His story is unique, and while the text allows for a good deal of connecting with his aesthetic and constructive thinking, the large book allows for an easy way to immerse oneself in his world.It is surely one of the books that expanded my thinking. Expensive, but how can one measure internal progress gained from it.

I Was a bit hesitant with the price of this book, but I am happy I did buy this book. Its is full of beautiful pictures, elevations, plan schematics and texts describing the concepts. Kuma's use of timber and woodwork is fantastic and inspiring for architects and designers. I would not recommend this as a coffee table book due to the cost, so be sure you have other intentions as this book should not be wasted on the generalists eye. The book is very large, but I do love this as it enhances the pictures and details. The delivery and packaging was the best I've ever received. The book came in its own customer box (complete with cover picture), shrink wrapped, and then neatly packaged in Amazon box.

It will not fit any bookcase, so consider buying a table for it;) Just kidding, but big and heavy it is; probably not like anything in your library. But that makes for large photo's to really get in to the work over the decades. Learned from the work in the Architecture (model) museum on Tokyo, where many models by the firm are displayed, and attracted me. Japanese modern Architecture is fascinating, and imho, at the top. The firm has a strong emphasis on sustainable design, which makes it even more relevant, as it combines the knack that they (the japanese) have for craftiness with engineering, and an ultimate sense of minimalism that's so much part of their cultural heritage to begin with. I'm only halfway, so maybe this will get a follow up;)

The book is HUGE. And gorgeous.
