excellent
Excellent manual to complement, it clarifies many doubts I had with this transmission and has very good photographs. Delivery was faster than I expected.

GM 4L80E rebuild book with pics
Very helpful to understand how the transmission goes together and how it works, with recommended parts to replace and upgrade. Helped with my Humvee 4L80E removal and reinstall

A number of good tips, but not specific enough
This is a reference more than an instructional book. There are some good tips, but the pictures are often too dark to make out, don't give specifics about replacement parts and there is nothing about removal/installation of the actual transmission. But it does have some useful info

This one is not worthwhile, even by SA book standards
The SA series books aren't expected to be perfect - they're written by folks that aren't authors and they're edited quickly. That's fine, I know what to expect. But normally show you the basics and and have nuggets of knowledge you won't find elsewhere. You don't want to rely solely on one of these books but use it to supplement the official publications with real-world knowledge. This one does neither of those. The basics aren't covered. I don't know if it's the author or the editor, but entire sections are out of order. E.g. the book tells you to install the forward drum BEFORE the direct drum. The sequencing of sections and photos is nonsensical. Critical things, like checking clearances, aren't discussed at all. There's also no special bits of knowledge. It seems like the author had never worked on a 4l80e and was just narrating someone else doing a quick teardown and reassembly. If it was $10 then fine, it's a book to keep on the bench and get oily. But I'm really disappointed.
