Great show and adventure/mystery
The animation isn't the best but it is very entertaining. We have watched this movie at least three times. I would highly recommend.

Fun adventure movie
A fun adventure movie that's slightly brought down by 2 negatives I have:1) the shoehorned romance2) the bumbling cop character really shouldn't have been in this movie past the openingBut those are ultimately not that detrimental to the overall experience. Give it a watch.

but has a nice mix of adventure
Marvelous film! It may have some parts that are too intense for younger viewers (every child has a different threshold, but maybe 8+), but has a nice mix of adventure, science, science-fiction, and slap-stick villains. The animation is fantastic - very atmospheric. No spoilers here - but the end is sweet! It was a fun movie for my STEAM-focused girls, who spent time arguing about whether chemistry could ever be used as depicted in the film.

Fans of classic comic strips and Studio Ghibli will immediately enjoy this French dystopian steampunk adventure
In the predictable world of cute CGI films and blockbusters about cartoon animals, the smog-choked vistas of the Extraordinary World are, ironically, a breath of fresh air. Fans of classic comic strips and Studio Ghibli will immediately enjoy this French dystopian steampunk adventure. April and the Extraordinary World is a throwback in all the best ways!

An excellent adventure. Taking place in early 20th century France in an alternate timeline April and the extraordinary world is a great movie. The animation is very good. I started out watching the English dub then about 30 minutes into the film switched to French with subtitles and liked it much better than the dub.

Childish and silly
I saw many good reviews but I was greatly disappointed in the film. It was incredibly childish and silly. It was like the Three Stooges do steampunk. I guess it could be called whimsical but it was just so dumb, predictable and stereotyped that I couldn't get into it.

A Clever and Charming Story
Alice and the Extraordinary World is a film like few others, mainly by being set in the Steampunk genre, and secondly by portraying it well.AEW (the short-hand for the film in this review) details properly the consequences a world stuck in the age of steam would create. It’s clever enough to know how bad this would be for humanity, despite the genres appealing and romanticism at times. (The only other film which comes to mind to achieve this is Steamboy by Katsuhiro Otomo.)It takes the use of the butterfly effect really well too. With a single small change: Napoleon trying to have a scientist create a serum for indestructible soldiers which subsequently kills him. This leads to a torrent of changes to the world which link back too: the prolonged reign of the French royal family, scientists across the world going missing, missing elements on the periodic table, electricity constantly being used invented and hidden, alongside the fact America doesn’t have the Statue of Liberty (due to the war between them and France.)The art and cinematography is also beautiful, from an artistic lens each backdrop is really well done, to a mathematical lens of the golden ratio and symmetry used frequently. The colours and sets just work for this genre which creates a wonderful aesthetic.A film not afraid to have fun and play some jokes with a strong - and yet ironic - commentary on a world stuck in steam, AEW is an absolute must-watch for any fans of the genre!
