Menthol Pain Relieving Gel Colorless Gel 4 FL OZ Tube for Pain Relief Associated with Sore Muscles, Arthritis

I purchased this because I was looking for ANYTHING that might help the pain of my rotator cuff injury. Since I can't get surgery yet (life with a toddler will do that to you!), I've been trying to manage the pain, but it's not easy. Over the counter medications don't help much and the stronger prescription meds barely take the edge off on most days, so I've started looking for anything else that might help. Biofreeze looked like a good bet. I was pretty skeptical of all the options out there that claim pain relief, because...well, if medications can't cut it, then what's to say this is better? But I was getting desperate for some relief from the constant pain. I've used Biofreeze for a week now, and I'm honestly stunned by how much this has helped me! The first night I used it, at first I thought it wasn't going to do anything. It took about ten minutes for it to kick in. But once it did...wow. The "freeze" part is quite accurate! It felt like someone had poured ice over my shoulder. The pain faded to a dull roar, and that was enough to make me want to cry with relief. I figured it would last for only a few minutes, but even that was enough for me. About thirty minutes later, it was still working. I fell asleep. What really surprised me was the feeling when I woke up in the morning. The freeze effect was gone by then, of course, but my shoulder actually felt better. It was so strange, because I knew it couldn't be working all those hours later. I used it again and went about my day...the pain was less. Then I used it the second night, and this time the relief was even greater. By the third night I had decided that I will buy more of this, probably the professional formula -- it's a little stronger -- and use it every night. The relief is worth it. I'm not sure HOW this is giving me so much relief from the pain. I understand the ingredients help ease the muscles...I get that the 'freeze' effect is great for relieving pain for a brief period of time. But I didn't expect this kind of long-term relief from using it. I'm not sure how it works, but at this point I've just decided that it WORKS, and that's enough for me. If there is a downside, it might be how strong it smells at first...it's enough to really clear the sinuses! But it really is a vanishing scent that's gone in a few minutes. It's not bad enough to make me stop using it, that's for sure. This is the gel, and I understand it comes in different ways of application, so I'm not sure how those work. But the gel feels very light on the skin, massages in beautifully, and leaves very little residue behind. I like that it's very easy to spread over the skin and absorbs fast. All in all, this is a great product. I'm looking forward to trying the professional formula!

This product was originally given to me by my physical therapist, was seeing her for a herniated disc in my neck, and she thought this would help with the muscle pain. I think it helps a bit, more than Bengay or Icy hot and it doesn't burn my skin as much as those other two products mentioned either. I had the surgery on my neck to correct the problem but now suffer from chronic pain with muscle tightness and spasms so I am still using this product and continue to re order it when I run low because I do see a difference in my pain level when I apply this product. If my pain is at a 8 and I apply this after a few minutes I am at a 5 so there is definitely a marked difference. There is a pretty strong odor or scent to this product and my loved ones don't like to get to close to me after I apply it but the scent does dissipate after a few minutes. I now order the scent free and color free option because I have stained a few white tops with this green colored gel and the colorless odorless gel works just as well.

As a sufferer of chronic back pain following half a dozen spinal surgeries, and someone whose strongest resolution for the pain is almost never stronger than ibuprofen, this is a miracle product. It doesn't "numb," per say, but has a deep-reaching cooling effect that really helps to ease the pain. It dries fairly quickly, and lasts because only a thin layer is needed. I haven't noticed any staining, but I usually give it about three minutes to dry before I put clothes over it or sit back on the furniture, just for good measure. I especially like to use this before work, where I'm sitting in an office chair forever, and before long car rides. If you've ever been to physical therapy, you may have had a similar "cooling" product used on you. the product also works on general aches and pains, as my husband and I can both attest. I've been using the product for approximately one month now, and plan to continue!

My husband has suffered from pain in his shoulder blade area and up through neck for 3 years or so. Sometimes causes a migraine! I ordered this product for those days the pain is unbearable in hopes it would offer some type of relief or take the edge off. IT DOES! I use about a Table Spoon size amount and I rub it in right into the sore areas and around the sore places just to be sure it hits the whole section of his neck/shoulder blade. The menthol smell is strong but dissipates soon. The gel starts working to relieve pain within 3 minutes and lasts a few hours. I'm so thankful for this product. Wash your hands right after you apply the the gel with soap and water and don't touch your face. My hands feel cool even when I wash it off right away. I will order more. Highly recommend.

I love Biofreeze. I use this for back pain, as well as arthritis pain in my hands and wrists. I work in an office environment and I have used Icyhot in the past, and my coworkers commented that they could smell it. So far, no one has commented that they can smell the Biofreeze. I can smell it when I first put it on, but they the smell goes away. I feel that this lasts longer than Icyhot/other products like it. It is a gel, not a cream, so it may not be as easy to spread on. When I used it the first time I dropped some of the gel, but I didn't have that issue when I carefully apply it. The icy/hot sensation does help with my arthritis pain as well as lower back pain that I occasionally get. I found the price for Amazon to be better than the local medical supply store I have gotten this at in the past. I'm happy with my purchase and I will buy this again.
