Does this version have the 98 coils of the original Slinky?

I'm not sure about the amount of coils, but it IS like the Slinkys we played with as kids. It is made with a heavier metal, which makes it work great. It goes down the stairs well. It's funny, because they labeled it "Giant"; but this was the size we had as kids.

Does this go down stairs?

No it does not. Manufacturer made it too short to save costs and it does not walk any typical stairs - too short to make a step from one step to next.
