SPT SU-9210 Digital Evaporative Humidifier, 1 gallon (3.7 liters) water tank, 2 fan speeds, 1 to 10 hours timer, LCD panel with filter dirtiness indicator, Filter captures minerals and deposit

I bought this unit mainly for the digital humidity setting which is supposed to humidify till it reaches the set level turn off.It definitely evaporates water into the air as evident by having to refill the tank every 4-6 hours (being used in a 400 as ft area) but the ambient humidity level never changes from 35% according to the units built in meter.And it never turns off which it's what it is supposed to do once it reaches the set humidity level.(Even when running on high and used in a 15 x15 bedroom with the door shut).Returning the item.

As our older humidifier was starting to whine (a bad bearing), we researched Consumer Reports and other sources for a replacement. Wanting to get away from the "white dust" of the cool mist style units, we ordered this highly rated evaporative unit. Does it work? - to some degree. It does add moisture to the air but nowhere near what CR stated. In just the master bedroom it cannot get the humidity level above 30% in dry winter (starting from about 19% humidity). Pluses: its quiet, easy to fill, no "dust". Minuses: silly design of lights (why a bright red power light when it also has a large blue lit LCD screen)? No water empty indicator, Humidstat appears grossly inaccurate - seldom turns off. We keep using it as a "manual" unit since it avoids the "dust" but have to kick on an ultrasonic unit (also SPT) that really pumps out moisture- but brings back the dreaded "dust" (we have very high calcium in our city water).

I have used this humidifier for two months. It is well built, quiet and effective, I recommend it highly.

This was bought for one room and it works as expected. No Issues.

I'm undecided about this. I had it running for hours in my bedroom, but no effect on the humidity - either with its own built in meter or with a separate one I have. Initially the problem was that I didn't realize I should give the filter 3 hours to soak up enough water before using it. But even after the filter was wet, this unit isn't "humidifying". But it is going through water from the tank. So that must mean at least a gallon is getting into the air, right? Here in the ultra arid SW high desert, a flat pan of water evaporates a quart in a day, easy. I'll try it a few more days, running constantly and on high.

this unit works great!! we live in the desert and winters are extremely dry. we use one in our bedroom and one in our living room. no white dust that we experienced with other humidifiers. had a problem with the unit beeping when we changed the filter but was easily fixed after reading the directions. just take water tank off, and the face unit (like you were changing the filter) lay the face unit on a table and plug in, push power and set time buttons at the same time. you will hear a beep, you are done!! love this humidifier!!
