Ear and forehead digital thermometer
When my kids were growing up we had the mercury in glass thermometers and it was fun using those on a wriggling infant and toddler. When I was caring for my 13 month old grandson last week my daughter-in-law had one of the digital thermometers which are useful for an adult or older child, but by the time I finally got my grandson's temp under his arm (rectally? I don't think so!!) I knew there had to be a better way, if I could find something affordable. This thermometer works great, it is easy, fast, and uses regular AAA batteries instead of a button battery that I never seem to have. I like the feel and look of it also, and the fact that it is dual mode. The price was not nearly as high as I thought, very reasonable, I thought, delivery was fast thankfully, and I am so pleased with this purchase!

Quick, easy, & affordable!
I am very satisfied with this product. I have always used the traditional thermometer that goes under the tounge. Well, now I am a mommy to a beautiful baby girl so my time to get a temp reading has to be quicker than a second before she begins to squirm all around. This product literally takes 1 second! I get a reading before she even knows what is on her forehead! I love it! I tried it on myself to verify its accuracy (my normal temp is 97.6) and it gave me the proper temp. The product came with a cute bag to store the thermometer in. It also came with a set of batteries so that was a nice plus. The LED screen is also a nice feature. I deff recommend this product for anyone looking for a thermometer like this. You can't beat the price either!

Inaccurate Readings, Unreliable!!!
I got this after reading a lot of positive reviews for my newborn son, but I have to admit this is one of the most useless purchase that I have done in a while. The thermometer is very unreliable, the readings are very inconsistent and not accurate. I had to purchase a replacement one from walgreens for accurate reading. And when I compare the readings with the other this one is always off and cannot rely. It shows he has fever when the actual reading on the other one which is a conventional thermometer shows no fever. And no two readings are the same on this thermometer. To get the ear reading the cap is very difficult to remove. I would suggest not to go with this product. Absolute waste of 30 bucks.

All the gushing reviews are not far off the mark in many attributes but it is interesting that none I read mention the poor, poo
I bought this item and paid full price, this is no freebie review. All the gushing reviews are not far off the mark in many attributes but it is interesting that none I read mention the poor, poor, documentation and one glairing important inconsistency in it.Positives: Fits the hand well, reads quickly, results are in big numbers, back lighting is nice, the color scheme is soothing and non-threatening.Storing the last 20 readings is great for tracking progress. No backlighting on during the history review though.Setting deg C or deg F is handy. Note that the conversion is done on the fly so your stored readings are also changed into the currently selected units deg C or deg F. This is nice. However the conversion may not be as expected. For example 78.5F is displayed as 26.0C but really should be 25.8C if you use only one decimal, or 25.83333 if you have more. Same thing showed up converting 51.5F it showed 10.9C rather than 10.8C which would be more accurate representing 10.833333. Yes, I checked about a dozen readings....most are ok.The temperature measurements taken in each mode seem reasonable. However, when trying any new method you should always do multiple readings (your old method and your new thermometer method) for at least 10 samples over time. This way you can get a feel for the offset difference if any.The "EAR" mode touts a measurement temperature range of freezing (32F) to boiling (212F) hmmmm.I did try it on an unpeeled hard boiled egg in refrigerator at 38F it read 47.3F. ;)Cons: The cover can be difficult to get on and off for the ear reading. I also think that the four little tabs are not going to hold up if you remove and replace the cover often. Mine already feels looser. There is no method to erase the stored 20 readings. This could cause some future confusion if you are tracking the temperature because old readings will be left in memory from before. Note that this is true even if you remove the batteries. The readings are stored in non-volatile memory. So is that 6th reading back from today's episode or from a week or year ago prior use of the thermometer? This needs to be fixed in future versions. I'm very surprised the clinical testing did not recognize this but they will usually track progress in their own computer systems.BTW if you are in the review mode you can just hold down the "EAR" button and it will cycle through the readings no need to make individual button presses. The documentation does not mention this, but it is faster if for example you want to see the 10th previous reading.Temperature conversion algorithm is a bit off expectations, seems always rounds up even for low 2nd decimal values.Documentation: Wow, for a professional piece of gear not much attention has been paid to the quality of the documentation. I would hazard a guess that it was translated from another language. There are right words used the wrong way, wrong words used, and some unusual syntax. Too many to enumerate here. The US distributor should fix this - it detracts from a pretty good product. Manual version 1.0 dated 2016/06/30The included documentation tells you in four different places, counting the box, the exact same method to measure forehead or ear. This does not include the advertising pdf that the distributor will e-mail you telling you the same thing....hey - it is not that difficult.Glaring inconsistency:Right on the box it shows "It is totally safe for children to use." Then on the same box side, not more than 6 inches lower it says "Please keep this infrared thermometer out of children's reach." One page 1 of the booklet it restates "It is totally safe for children to use." However on page 2 itthen states "Please keep this infrared thermometer out of children's reach." Might they mean "It is totally safe to use on children."?Summary:So, overall a good product with a fair price point and some nice features. A few things should be improved, and the documentation really needs attention which almost got this only three stars.

Not accurate
I gave it two stars Because the idea of having both forhead and ear options in one is great and Because it is incredibly fast. HOWEVER, it does not give accurate readings at all. The ear seems more accurate but still different with every read. I didn't realize this until our entire family was sick including my 6 month old baby and I really needed a good thermometer. Very disappointed!

It is of very good quality and easy to switch from forehead to ear ...
I have not had the need to use it now, so my review won't be true. However; It is of very good quality and easy to switch from forehead to ear setup. But I think, I received a used one, and I ordered a new one and that is why I only gave it 3 stars.

User-friendly, accurate thermometer
I love this thermometer. I use it for my 20 month old who would not tolerate getting his temperature taken without a screaming fight, which with a rectal is no fun and dangerous. This thermometer seems to have great accuracy. He loves it. It's durable and sturdy, so I have let him play with it and explore with it with no issues in regards to it standing up to a toddler's 'use'. Because of being able to do this, he is familiar with it and happily let's me use it on him. I am happy with the purchase. I also am impressed with the company's customer service. They have contacted me via email at least 3 times since my purchase a few months ago to make sure I have continued satisfaction with their product!
