Works as Advertised
Attaches to the Air 2S easy as pie, works exactly like the brochure said it would, elegant, reliable, the very definition of simplicity and as much or more fun than you thought it might be. But let's talk about weight - later here.I used this device to deliver a shot of whiskey to my brother on his birthday, to his home on the tippy-top of a mountain, launching from a valley half a mile away and a thousand feet below. It worked perfectly the first time without any trial runs. Now, let's put on our engineer's hat: the specs say that this dropper can lift a 500g load, that's an added 1.2 lbs if we include the 56g weight of the dropper itself. Now, according to DroneDJ, the Air 2 - not the Air 2S - is capable of lifting 830 grams or 1.8 lbs. For the Air 2S specifically, data is not readily available. But let's just consider the quoted 500g. The Air 2S weighs 595 grams. Adding 556 grams brings it to 1.15kg. A single 12-oz can of Bud weighs in at 0.78 lbs or 353g, so theoretically, we could deliver a beer to someone. Engineering Considerations: the motors are going to be working a lot harder, particularly in a hover. The motors are designed to air-cool themselves with prop wash through vents that are visible in the motor casings. Add a big load, and the air cooling may be insufficient. What could possibly go wrong: the insulation on the magnet wire used to wind the motors could get cooked. The copper windings could overheat, leading to metallurgical changes and an increase in resistance. The permanent magnets in the motors could be heated to or near their Curie point, losing some of all of their magnetism.Within the motor drivers, currents will be higher and heat dissipation in the motor drivers will be higher. Are these motor drivers heat sinked properly for carrying more than 2x the anticipated current load? Not likely. What could possibly go wrong? Unknown.Lastly, the power for the 4 motors and everything else comes from where? The battery, which is likely Li-Po, lithium polymer in a 3-cell arrangement. Lifting 2x the normal load will, needless to say, greatly shorten flight time. But could this lead to overheating of the battery resulting in permanent degradation. In short, this is a great and fun addition, but please consider using it to deliver and drop only the lightest of loads, maybe up to 100g or 3.4 oz. Maybe 200g. And keep flight times shorter; plan for shorter times, because flight times WILL be shorter. It's simple physics, Mr. Newton. And thank you for your not-insignificant contribution to this review, Mme. Curie.A photocell coupled by light to the drone's landing light lets the user-programmable "fn" button control the dropping of the load. Effective, simple, elegant. It's no Sikorsky SkyCrane, you cannot build a skyscraper with it, but it's much less expensive and it's a whole lot of fun. Buy it. Buy it! Click the click!

Nifty accessory but does have a slight flaw
After testing successfully on a bag of bread and can of chili, I decided to up my drop game and drop a clown doll from 400 feet. Why a clown doll you ask? Because I hate them they're super creepy and I wanted to enact mass punishment on this creepy clown by dropping it from high altitudes. Sadly I only made it to 350 feet before trying to drop it, I activated my aux light and the clown did not drop! Figuring the mechanism stopped working (I was sure I turned it on before hand) I tried to bring it back to examine. To my surprise I couldn't even drop altitude! The stupid clown hung up there laughing at me, because it was only hanging a foot or so below my 2s and thus blocking the downward facing sensors, I thought I would be stuck until critical battery force land. I ended up having to use the wind to my advantage so the clown would clear my sensors and was then able to bring it home. Turns out the piece of ribbon attached to the clown that I used to attach to the drop hook, had become wedged directly behind the drop hook, and the drop hook was spinning and spinning as it should but mr clown could not detach. I remedied the issue by attaching a thicker keyring to the clown, and was able to successfully drop the clown to his demise but sadly from only like 100ft.The moral of the story, you need to use something thick/rigid to hang off of the drop hook because there is enough play with the rotating bar that things like ribbon or string will easily slide backwards and get wedged and ruin your fun. Also the LED land lights aren't really that bright.

Simply awesome, buy it for your Mavic Air 2 now!
It works amazingly well, buy it and save a lot of $ over others available! Doesn't effect battery, sensors, or get in the way of anything except the LED light which it uses to trigger the drop (very clever). Snaps on solid in less than 2 seconds, and have had no issues with functionality. The LED lights are pretty weak compared to the LED on the drone though (which is very impressive). The stance is not as good as factory, but it does get it a little higher off the ground. It's rechargeable and simple to use, just don't forget to turn it's power switch on before sending it out. The Sky's the limit with this thing (under a pound or so of course). I use small brown rope twine off a roll to send stuff so I don't have to worry about getting my string back. Fishing line really doesn't work well. If it was to quit working I would buy another! So far here's a few examples of how I've used it:1- I have sent a bottle of water to the guy mowing our local cemetery half a mile away when it was 105 degrees here in Kansas (Drone said maximum load reached at an attitude of about 150ft due to the weight and wind).2- a torx driver to my nephew 1 mile away so I didn't have to get my pickup out when it was muddy.3- an outlet and outlet box to my sister a mile away.4- a carburetor jet kit my nephew needed for his three wheeler a mile and a half away.**Note: This will save you a lot of time from getting conned into helping on projects or just simply b.s.ing when you have s**t to do lol! The drone just drops what's needed and comes straight home, all from my back deck!

Directions are bad
I’m going to try it out later today. I bought to to drop packages to my grandson who lives close by on the same mountain. I’m sure he will be thrilled. Have to figure out what to drop him though.

It is what it appeared to be in the listing.
Good directions on how to install, it seems to be strong enough for the job.
