Cousin DIY 23 Inch Wood Quilting Hoop, Brown

I used this to embroidery an aerial of our land. It needs to be sewn together to stay shut but that’s easy enough to do. I really love the oversized look of it.

The wood ring is very thin (1/2in) and the adjustable screw is very short. It’s hard to get a 3 layer quilt in without the ring slipping.I do not recommend for more than 2 layers… just too light weight…. And expensive.

I got this in hopes of being able to work on hand quilting a blanket that I've been working on without having to move my smaller embroidery hoop all the time. When it got to me I was really excited because it was as big as it appeared on in the picture, but the wood strips were badly warped and once I pull them apart I wasn't able to get them lined up enough to snap back together. One side was always popping out and it was impossible for me to actually get any fabric through over it to use it. It simply kept popping out of alignment Even after a good half an hour of fiddling with it. I ended up needing to return it because it was just completely unusable for what I needed it for. I suspect if you were just going to decorate with it and didn't need it to stay together while being handled it might work for you, but it was a total bust for me.

This hoop is huge, which is great, but it is only about a 1/2 inch wide, which isnt wide enough to hold the quilt properly. If you are looking for a hand quilting hoop, I wouldn't recommend this. I had a very hard time getting the two hoops to line up as they were both warped in different directions. When I did finally get it, I tried to pull my fabric tight and it slipped right off. No matter how tight I tightened it, it would not work. It is not a good hoop for hand quilting or any other type of quilting. Definitely not worth the $32.00 I paid for it.
