Gerber Superknife Edge, Black [31-000666]

I've used this type of knife for decades. Very simple to change the razor blade, very easy to buy more, easy one handed open and close. Its my preferred way to open boxes, etc. A bit of care is needed when cutting thick cardboard or the blade will pull out, happens very rarely and its easy to push the blade back into the handle.Amazon says I've bought 7 of this model, I wish I knew where I put them all. Probably gave a couple away to friends.This is my favorite go to knife, I keep one in my desk drawer, one in the kitchen, one in my tool bag, one in my car center console.

Well built, heavy duty (all metal construction), good locking mechanism, easy toolless blade change out, good design of belt/pocket clip. Only thing missing is storage for an extra blade but that would make it a lot larger so other than that, I definitely recommend!

I ordered a couple of these mainly because of the brand. Overall it is a great pocket knife for simple task. I thought it would be great for work but it isnt. The blades get pulled out when you try cutting with it. I tried multiple blade brands but had the same problem. Works great for simple task but not heavy cutting.

This is not as good as the original superknife, But at this time it’s what we have. Gerber has purchased the rights to manufacture the superknife And it’s still probably the best folding razor knife out on the market today. It’s small and very pocketable all metal and no plastic it holds a standard razor blade this designed for all sorts of other nice and it’s cheap to buy and available anywhere.The one flaw that was introduced when Gerber took over production is that the safety can be bumped and caused the blade to come loose but I have only had that issue occasionally… It is not been a frequent problem. It is something you can solve by using something to jam that release but I haven’t worried about it. Another option would be to drill a hole through where the razor blade has a groove and put a thread and a screw… That has been done on other knobs, even one Gerber has out on the market in order to lock the blade in place. Though you can find it at some of the big box stores.I have now bought two of them and I think it is a good value for money I just wish they had not messed around with the blade release.

Identical to the earlier super knife design, I only wish that I could have gotten a sk2 instead. Haven't found them anywhere else. Beware the blade can release and pop out cutting into heavy stuff . But thin and comfortable otherwise. The sk2 had a better blade retention.

This is the worst utility knife I’ve owned which is sad coming from Gerber. It functions and is sturdy but the locking mechanism goes in too far and you’ll need to pry it back over with a screwdriver to close the knife after it’s been opened.

Had it for a few years. I'll pick it up again once I've misplaced my other knives like this and I'll realize why I put it down. All blades, HD, regular, USA, China, all of them. Blade pops out often.

A good addition for your EDC gear; compact size & pretty sharp. Bought it because it's made off aluminum. Already had the spare blades. Truly a super knife!
