Q: Are the crayons good? I shy away from any crayons that aren't Crayola brand as they are usually too waxy.

they aren't as good as crayola crayons but they work for my daughter

my thinking would be return the whole set, I am not sure you could get just sharpener. You might try Hobby Lobby?

To the best of my knowledge the sketch pads are about the same shape ze of the kit. They were a good size. If you buy this get and depending on the age of your child, make sure you remove the sharp razor knife. I bought this for my 7 year old grandson and he loves it. He has shown a great interest in art and drawing, etc.
