Very Good Cookbook
I purchased this cookbook for the historical aspect of it, and I was delightfully surprised at how very easy and tasty the recipes are. I found the cooking instructions to be well explained and something that even a person who doesn't cook that often (like me) can follow.Totally glad I purchased this cookbook!

I love cookbooks and anything I can learn about African American culture
I love anything and everything I can about great African American leaders especially leaders. When I heard about this cookbook I knew I had to have it and it’s a nice read or cookbook about and by an awesome African American man. I just finds it such a pity that a great black man like this could be here one day and just never be seen the next and no one at all can tell why and where he has been missing or what ever happened to him.

It's more of black history for me then anything else
I didn't care for the the recipes but knowing that he was the first African-American with a cookbook that's more of black history to me and something that I didn't not know was very enlightening and enjoyable to read about how he was once a slave and Rose above it

Recipe book
I found many old recipes that reminder end me of my grandmother's recipes that have been lost due to she had them memorized and knew them by heart. My dad's mother had been a logging c amp cook and a cook for a boarding hose in Packwood Wa at the began in gif the twenty cenrtury early 1900s. Her famil hailed from a little township called Looneyville WV. I remember her canned yam and sadly that is one recipe that was lost. I would rcommend this cookbook. To others. Thank-you.

This book will not teach you to prepare these dishes. But, if you cook, it will make you curious.
This is a cool piece of culinary history. Very basic concept of documenting flavor combinations. The plethora of combinations is interesting as well as the types of veggies, berries, and game meats that were common for his day.
