Speck Products GemShell Color Case for iPhone 5c - Sunrise Pink Edge Glow

Love it works great for my 3 years iPhone 5c!

I bought a really beautiful vinyl skin for my phone and wanted a case with a bit of a lip that would give it some added shock protection but would let the skin shine through. The Speck, at first glance, seemed to meet my needs. Felt good and grippy in the hand and a bit tight on my phone to keep the case from separating in the inevitable event of a drop. But I chose to buy the case & screen protector package on Amazon because the price was better. Oops. When it arrived I already noticed the rubberized portion was a bit yellow and the grippy button covers around the volume controls were already beginning to bow out. I had maybe two weeks of good use before these two flaws became noticeably annoying. That being said I have dropped this phone from waist height about a dozen times and not so much as a scratch, so 12/12 on the protection rating! The case is very functional for drop protection. Emotional usability at first glance is 5 stars. The ones I handled in-store seemed flawless. But the one that arrived at my door was a 3, due to warping and yellowing of the grippy material. This one had been sitting around a while! In short, the design is great, the execution = terrible. I had a few weeks of happy use before I started to simply hate this case. I bought a similar case at my local Five Bel°w, a dollar store targeting the teen market. It is almost identical except the rubberized edge is colored to match the yellow of my 5c. It was $5. It is better than the Speck. Stats right to the phone and looks amazing. It looks like I bought a new phone. I've already dropped it and HUZZAH! It survived! I also bought a tech-armor-style the screen protector for $1, and after almost 6 months of use it is flawless. I will never buy a Speck product again.

I've had my case a little over a month now and don't have any real complaints. When I first opened the package, I was worried that it had a yellowish tint, but now I think I was just overly concerned about that after reading about it in reviews. The case does not look yellow on my phone. My only real complaint is that I seem to have an air bubble between the case and the back of my phone, and I'm not sure how to get it to go away. I've tried taking my phone out of the case and wiping them both down with a damp paper towel, then drying them, but that didn't work. It's not a huge deal though and is worth feeling like my phone is protected.

Seems like some people complain about this cover becoming discolored over time. Yes, that might be true but I had it for 1.5 years on my phone and it looked great for at least 14 months.I also tried replacing it with a Spigen, but the first time I dropped it, the phone popped open on one corner. On the other hand while I had the Speck I dropped the phone dozens of times and nothing happened to it.This cover curves slightly over the frame of the phone providing a much better protection. And you can't beat the price! Ordering a spare one.Update: Coming back to buy another one. My phone would have been destroyed a dozen times by now wo this case!

Service was awesome, this one arrived so quick I was impressed with the service, the quality on the Speck case was a bit disappointing, I would think it would not scratch easily but I just have it in my purse with normal items like makeup bag, wallet, hand lotion, regular stuff and it got scratched so quickly, other then the scratched back I love everything!!!!

I bought this case in September for my iPhone 5C. At first I was really happy with it, but overtime (it's now December) the part where the volume buttons are started to stick out. It's a nice clear case and I love it because it shows off the color of my phone, however it has not protected my phone from falls very well. I've dropped my phone several times and the phone itself began to slip out of it's shell (the black from the yellow). I love Speck and I'm going to give them another try. I just bought one of their Candyshell cases which is similar to this one, but actually has shock absorbent lining on the inside. We'll see how it turn out!

I wanted to make sure that I wasn't covering up the pretty color of the phone. This does a great job of protecting the phone, while still being able to see the color/features of the phone. It is a little difficult to get on and off, and there is dust that makes it under the case near the speaker/headphone jack so it makes it difficult to clean but it's not that big of a deal. You can see some scratches on the back of the case but they are not that obvious. The "jelly" portion of the case seems to have changed colors slightly but again, it isn't that noticeable and I am still extremely pleased with the case.

Clear case is ideal for the 5c to allow the color choice to show, but over time it has yellowed and looks pretty bad on the phone. Additionally, the area around the volume buttons has puckered and makes the case look even more unsightly. The case works 'fine' I suppose, in that it's generally protected the phone (though there is a crack on the corner of the screen that the case clearly didn't protect from) for the course of a year.Maybe it's too much to ask for a clear case to 'stay' clear? But, if you choose this case do so knowing you'll want to replace it every six months or so.
