Operation XX and Me - Did I Have A Choice? Paperback – May 1, 2019

This book was intriguing. What a pleasant surprise it must have been for his wife to his journal. Times have sure changed since his early days. I really enjoyed this book!!!

This is apparently a true story but I felt that it could have been a bit longer and explained a bit more about how someone like this could have been recruited for this type of spy activity. No doubt this did happen with this gentleman, but some historical context could have made the book more interesting; I felt let-down by the abrupt ending.

This very short book never really addressed the title. It consisted mostly of a rolling commentary on all the jobs the author had as a young man. It didn't appear to be edited at all so some of the 'sentences' didn't make sense. It could be been a very interesting story had someone really taken the time to delve into Operation XX and how it impacted people's lives.

An seemingly ordinary man living an ordinary life. He lived an extraordinary life. No one he knew even suspected. An amazing and brave man.

This was a very interesting memoir of a seemingly average person who really wasn't average. It takes an exceptional ability to be noticed by those who need those who have it.My husband and I both enjoyed the story and will set it aside for our grandsons to read.

It may be interesting to those interested in a coming of age story in post-WWII England, but there's very little about "Operation XX". If that's your reason for wanting to buy this book, take a pass.

It wasn’t much if a book. If shows a big if history most people know nothing about and I appreciate that being shared. Due to the secret side of this, it is not surprising that more is not known
