Is it safe to use in the sand at the beach?

I really don't know, but I believe the sand could interfere with the buttons working properly.

How do you get the excavator song to play? i just hear phrases and truck noises when i press the button. note, still in original packaging.

You have to have it on the "On Mode", the "Try Me" mode will not include the song. Once you switch the mode to "On" it should play all sounds and phrases including the Excavator Song by pressing the activation button on the top of the cab.

On position does not work at all, only the try me allows for sounds- anyone else have this issue? I replaced with new batteries- still same issue

I had the same issue. Was going to return it. Pressed the sound button very fast & that ‘turned’ it ON. Try it, good luck, it’s not the same toy without the Blippi song
