SKIP!!!
Too long horizontally and too short vertically. NOT AT ALL suitable or safe for bench press. 1 or 0 starts for bench press.SO NO BENCH PRESS, however, there are other uses for it - such as to hold a curl bar and the like where the length of the hook is not an issue. 5 starts for such uses other than bench press.

Excellent J Hooks
The J Hooks fit my 2x2 power rack perfectly and feel quite solid and sturdy. I use them when I am doing low bar squats and they hold my barbell perfectly still as I am positioning it on my back, no bar roll. I have not had any problems un racking the bar from these j hooks and have not had any issues when re racking at the end of a set. I do not use them for benching due to the angle of the J hooks, out of fear that when pressing the bar upwards it would hit the front of the j hooks angling outwards, but for squats they have been excellent. I would definitely recommend them.

The angular design
The feature I like most about this j hooks is the angle at which the j-hope projects from the uprights. The moment I place the bar in the j hook it rolls towards the upright. Because I'm without a spotter is very important to me that the bar be placed firmly back in the j hook and supported by the uprights before I turn it loose. The round tubular support which I'm holding in the palm of my hand I do not favor as much simply because there is no left and right style. While pressing one day without a spotter my forearm brushed against this round tubular support causing it to come out. Fortunately I was able to place one end of the bar in the other supporting hook and work the other hook back in place. Oh what a happy ending.

Does the job
Every time I rack the bar I have no doubt it's secure. There's no wondering "Crap, did I get it on the rack?" on my 14th rep with my arms or legs shaking and I'm ready to just drop the bar. The only complaint is that sometimes on certain exercises I'll place the bar on top of the actual J-hook. Maybe if there was a slope at the top of the J leading into the main hook? Not sure, just know that when it happens you'll notice.

Hooked on my J Hooks
The first pair originally came with my Power Rack. I was so impressed with them regarding their durability and strength that I purchased another set and days after another set. From a set up perspective, it’s more convenient to have multiple hooks for your specific exercises. From a safety perspective it’s a no brainer.

Awesome for safety
The reason why I bought them, after many comparisons, is safety. My gym is at home and the child has access to it, so everything should be secured as securely as possible. These hooks are of classic design and are the only ones that hold the bar at the very base, and all the others allow it to roll down to the very edge. It may be more convenient when the barbell is at the very edge, but it is not safe. My advice, therefore, is to choose these hooks if you need security without compromise. The classic old design is best for this purpose, because it has the right angle, proven for decades and in halls around the world.

Two ledges hard to know if you’re docked
There is a flat area at the top that allows the weight to feel docked but then it can slip forward and actually dock into the v groove. This makes it hard to know if you need to swing the weight out or it it’s already docked. On the fence about a return as long term it seems I’ll conceived and not user tested. It’s sturdy but I don’t don’t the docking.
