Disappointing, dead on arrival
I ordered this for a crib mobile that I was making.Unfortunately, the product only worked when connected to the laptop. It was not charging, and did not run on battery.Looks like the motor inside was not working. For me, this product was dead on arrival.Very disappointed.

Easy to load songs on
Found this when looking to build my own Harry Potter themed mobile for our babies crib.We were able to load more HP songs than needed onto this and we like the sound quality as well. The mobile arm we bought came with a wind up music box that is very tinny sounding, but since this is an actual speaker playing your mp3s it's crisp and clear. The volume goes pretty loud so make sure your songs don't crescendo in the middle of them or the sudden loudness may rewake baby!

Choose your own mp3
Thus thing is great. You can upload your own mp3 or wav files and play whatever songs you want. The speaker sounds pretty good considering this is a $25 mp3 player with a motor in it! Lol.The abily to just have music and stop the mobile from spinning is a nice touch.Only gripe is that the volume always starts too high, but that's not a deal breaker.

Works well but chews through batteries
Overall I like the little motor and being able to put your own music onto it is a pretty great. The sound quality is OK at best. The idea of packing this away to use as a portable speaker is pretty laughable, a smartphone will sound better than the wee tinny speakers on this but good enough to get the little one asleep. My only significant complaint is how quickly it chews through batteries. I think you get maybe 4-6h out of a set of AA, which wouldn't be so bad except you need a screwdriver to swap the batteries. Having to change batteries every day or so wouldn't be so bad but it is pretty tedious to have to crack it open each time, but I guess better than a cheap plastic latch that'd eventually break. Also yes, the opening jingle is the Old Spice jingle... for some reason.

Its ok
This works ok. Its nice that it plays whatever music you want to put on it. I thought it'd be hard to put my own stuff on it, but it wasn't. I plugged it into my pc, removed all the files on it, and copied my own file over to it- basic music copy. It also came with the cable to plug it into my pc which I wasn't sure if it would or not. The quality of sound is so-so, but it doesn't have to be great for what this is. It spins smoothly at a nice speed for a calm movement of a mobile. It looks ok, a little large but I assume they all look this way.If you get this you should keep in mind a few things.1)The volume resets every time you turn it on and starts at max or an otherwise pretty high volume. When you put your own music on this, be sure to adjust the volume of the audio clip before copying it over to this- that way, when you turn it on, its already at a nice low level for your hopefully sleepy baby and doesn't just wake them back up.2)There's no remote control so you have to turn it on with the buttons each time. Not bad necessarily, just something to note. I think a remote control would have been very useful.3)It plays that old spice whistle whenever you turn it on and you can't remove that or change its volume. Not in love with that. I don't mind the whistle but its kind of loud in a quiet space, so I feel like it might wake a sleepy/sleeping baby up regardless of the volume of music that plays after it.I'm still pregnant, not due for a couple months yet, so we'll see how it goes when the time comes.

Awesome
The media could not be loaded. I am making a 3d printed dragon mobile for my new nephew. This was the only customizable motor I could find, I was warry due to the lower rating but it did not disappoint. My only wish is that the SD card was bigger.
