Buxton Heiress Cardex Wallet, Mahogany, One Size

My original review gave this item five stars. This review is the result of actually USING the wallet (or trying to) after my former one finally gave out. I have used what I thought was the identical wallet for years. When I ordered this one, it looked just like the nearly worn out one, so I didn't think about it. When the old one finally fell apart, however, the difference became quite apparent. To skimp on materials, Buxton made this one about 3/8" smaller. What that means is that nothing fits. I had to cut my insurance cards down, and the credit cards won't fit at all with their RFID covers on. I'll probably give this one to charity and try something else, because it just doesn't work.

Although the description says "100% leather" it is not, only the outside is. In fact, it is stamped "Leather Exterior" right on the wallet. Too bad, the lining is vinyl, the card slots are vinyl, the inside of the change purse is some kind of synthetic material. I really wanted this because of the design - I like the dual bill slots (I use one for bank receipts) and the numerous card slots and the twist close change purse. But this won't work for me. Leather wallets hold up for a long time because the leather gives when you're putting cards into and out of the slots, keeping coins in the change section, etc. I've had wallets with vinyl or other synthetic insides and they just start to come apart and fail way before the outside becomes worn.

This is NOT the old Buxton wallets you remember! I thought it was as it seemed like it in the first few months - but one big difference - nothing fit - credit cards or driver's license! Had to try and cut them down, could not get them out when standing in line - it was TERRIBLE.Then after trying to use this wallet, it literally started falling apart. My license holder separated, some slots stretched out while others didn't.I'm back trying to search for another wallet and remembered to write this review because when you get it you will be happy. But after you use it, you will HATE it and yearn for the old days when Buxton wallets were quality.

This wallet is the closest to my Rolf brand that I could find. I had been using the old one for over 25 years. I waited too late. The card holders in the old one rotted and I didn't want to lose my items so it was time for a new one. I searched for months. They no longer make the Rolf ladies wallets like mine. Finally, I came back here and looked one more time for a replacement. I found this Buxton brand and it looks like my old Rolf. It is the same size. I decided to try another color rather than black. I ordered the one pictured, Mahogany color above, but received a black one instead. My last one was black so, ok. Black it is.Now this is what I like about this one. it has the change purse with the gold latch and not a zipper. You can open it and see your coins instead of blindly pulling things out of a dark pocket that zips. It still has enough card holding slits in the wallet for whatever I need to keep handy. I like the divided sections for your wads of cash. My old one had that also. I wasn't thrilled with the photo holders. I finally pulled my old one out and am using it.Now these are the things I do not like. My Rolf had the closure that you could expand if your wallet was getting too full that could expand into four different snaps. This one does not. I guess I didn't think of that before ordering. Just putting the essentials into the new one, It doesn't want to snap since it won't expand. I do not know what the customer is supposed to do on Pay day and the wallet won't snap shut. Next, It isn't soft leather like my old one. My husband was the first to feel of it and said he was disappointed in that. It is more rigged and well, just not a leather feel. Cheap. I really hoped I could find one just like mine but this is what came. It holds the things I have put into it. I like the logo pressed in just like the other one even if it is on the front corner for all to see.In conclusion, this will work, but I am not in like with it for the price. Yes, I am a very unusual lady. I buy quality when I can afford and until it breaks and still serves it's purpose, I do not change anything. The purse I bought all of those years ago is used every day and it still looks new. My old wallet looks new also until you unsnap it and all of the places for cards are completely falling apart. I do not know if others will have the same complaints as mine, but I sure do wish I had the one I loved. I couldn't give it stars above because the rate features was for shoes only and we certainly do not want to get started on those.

Have been using this same wallet for years. . The last one just got replaced, after 4.5 years of abuse because the plastic came out of the ID pouch and driver's license wouldn't stay put. But everything else was still fine..no other rips or tears. Glad it's available on Amazon; couldn't find it in local retail stores.Update: Just 5 months later, and *all* the credit card slots have come unglued at the bottom, so all cards slip down into the base of the wallet, never to be seen again unless you dig for them! SO VERY disappointing after my original review. Maybe this one's defective, or maybe quality control isn't what it used to be. And by the way, I am NOT one of those people that overloads and stresses their wallet. All my gift cards and receipts go into a separate thingy, so wallet is kept quite small and organized. Oh well...the search is on for a newer, better wallet; may have to check local stores so I can check quality first hand.

Loved this wallet at first until my cards "broke" through the bottoms that are supposed to hold them up. I went to put my Visa away and pushed it in - no stronger than I usually put my cards in my wallets- and it kept going down, breaking through the bottom of its pocket. I had to dig it out and now have to make sure I don't push my cards down too far, which now puts them at risk of falling out of my wallet entirely. Really a bummer because up until that happened, I loved this wallet.

Very nice wallet. Lots of room and the change purse is great. It is larger than I expected and so i will buy another wallet because it is too large to fit in most jacket pockets. It is more of a wallet to put in a large purse.

I love this new wallet. Small enough to not take up too much room in my purse but big enough to hold all my items. Great price for leather.
