The one I purchased didn't smell at all.

Q: Can someone tell me the measurement of its thickness ehen board is folded up? Im trying to figure out if this area I have is wide enough to fit board.

The cover itself is only approx. 1/4 inch thick.

Yes! Very high quality! Padded and solid material ... This product is just the board cover... Not the ironing board - just to clarify

Q: Is there a extra thick cover with a separate pad that is washable?

No separate pad. You have to wipe off the cover and not washable.
