Heavy Tournament Quality Triple Weighted Staunton Chess Pieces with 3 3/4" King

Almost bulletproof, or at least tantrum proof.

Was looking for a cheap triple weight set to keep giving private chess lessons with somewhat decent pieces without a huge expense. These are just the normal look tournament chess set with some weight in them. That is completely fine for what I need them for. The package came with a rook Broken. I play with lots of the normal chess sets, and well... These things happen over time anyways. However, it is new and I would like to keep them intact as long as I can. Like I said, I plan to use them to get private lessons and just play at the local club. Since there could have been many reasons why the piece was chipped, I decided to not put blame on anyone. (I use to work in the shipping business, I know what they do to packages) I simply contact the shipper last night and he has already replied. I asked if should just send it back, or if he could send me a replacement Rook. Like I said, He responded promptly and is sending me a replacement piece. Honestly, this was exactly what I was hoping for. The fact I don't have to deal with sending things back just makes my life easier. The letter was a simple thing to write and his reply met my satisfaction. As of right now, I am happy with my purchase. I will update later if there is another problem, but I don't forsee that happening. Honestly, if you just want a cheap weighted set, this is a pretty good buy. Seeing how I am still active in tournaments, I really don't enjoy using my nice set for lessons and casual play. This is a great compromise for next to nothing. The weight is great for speed chess as well!

Received a set of white--only white--chess pieces. I can imagine that pieces are sold that way but it's absurd that I would need to assume that given the picture of black and white pieces and the obvious assumption that I would receive a full set.

I do not know what "triple weighted" means. But these chess pieces are adequately weighted - no better. They are fairly attractive except for the Queens flat top (with button). If the Queen had a slightly domed top (with button), then this would be a very attractive set. None of my pieces were broken, chipped or missing.

I do indeed like the product I purchased, but when I got them one of my pawns and took were broken straight out of the box. I didn’t take the time to get new ones back but I like it but I would like not like to have my pieces broken so that’s why it gets a 3 star. The pieces do have weight and feel nice, but the company needs to be careful about packing there products.

Overall these chess pieces are very good for the price. The pieces look good. After close inspection of each individual piece, there are lots of plastic imperfections/marking as if they were scratched. It doesn't affect the playability of the pieces at all and it might be me just being picky. It is much less noticeable on the white pieces.One mentioning point is that half of them rattle real bad with the weights in them. Some don't rattle at all, but many do. I also feel that the weight might eventually come through the felt over time. Threads on the felt are already slightly fraying off straight out of the bagOverall, its the cheapest you can find for decent quality. I can see these being used at a school chess club. I bought this set to keep my toddler busy while I use an expensive wood set.It will definitely hold up with careful older kids and adults that know how to take care of their things.
