Fun and intricate
I loved this set! Honestly, I bought this one for myself, as I decided to collect all the Hobbit/LOTR Lego sets. This one was more complicated than it looked, but tons of fun to build. I like the hidden levers and how the sections fit together. The construction is sturdy, typical Lego quality that you can trust, and there are a lot of little design innovations that remind you well of Rivendell. One thing I wish was different was the Arwen minifig: instead of real legs, she has a blocky triangle dress attachment that doesn't allow movement or sitting. Other female minifigs have looked fine with legs as a dress, but I suppose if the "flowy" look was what they wanted, it's fine. Cool, authentic look to the weapons and scenery, too. Overall, great set!

Nice new LOTR Lego sets!
I just bought this along with the three other new Lord of the Rings Lego sets. It's a quaint little set, not a lot of action features, nor does there need to be given the scene. I will say however, the trees and the contrast of foliage are well designed. I'm hoping this is part of a larger Rivendell expansion. My only real complait with the set is in the choice of minifigures. We've yet to get an elderly Bilbo Baggins, and this would be the perfect set to include him in. Plus, I think there's too many Gimlis throughout this series. This is the fourth set he's been included in, while certain figures, like the Hobbits (Sam, Pip, and Merry) are hard to find. On the other hand, I'm glad to see Elrond and Arwen. Well anyway, it's a good set for a good price. Like I said, I'm hoping Lego expands more on the LOTR lines. There's still a lot of Middle Earth we haven't seen yet.

It's a great collector's item
It's a great collector's item... I don't think it's as great for children to play with. I love the detail and the way the model is put together, though, and I recommend it for LEGO collectors who are also Lord of the Rings fans.

a MUST have!
This is amazing! Hands down the best LOTR set when it comes to artistic design and aesthetic beauty. The colors of the set are fantastic, the minifigures are great, especially Arwen, who appears exclusively in this set, as well as Elrond. The tree parts, the table and the chairs are a treat for the eye. Not many features here, but there is the eye of Sauron flick thing, that opens once Gimli tries to destroy the ring. And anyway, who needs extra features when this set is an iconic play feature by itself. The setting is beautiful, the build is megafun, and it's great for a display piece as well. People will hardly take their eyes off this set on your desk! A winner!

Why was my box and contents open!
If this was a promised not used product, then why was my box and one package inside opened??? Now I'm not sure if any pieces are missing! And this was suppose to be a christmas present!!! Deeply disappointed

Cute little set, hopefully part of a bigger one!
This is a great little set with fantastic details and minifigures. I bought this along with Battle at the Black Gate, and built this first thinking it would be something small and stupid to do so I could build up to building the Black Gate. I had low expectations and was blown away! I just hope that lego makes a larger Rivendell set. Great set, great price. (Ps. I have most of the other Lord of the Rings sets and this one is my third favorite, behind Orthanc and Helms Deep)

Expensive for item
This is a great lego set... however it is priced the same as sets with over 3 times the pieces... not happy with how small it is.

Happier than a kid on Christmas
I bought this set Cyber Monday 2013, and I must say it has been one of the best gifts to myself I have given! I love LOTR and have been a fan since the movies came out, and think it's great that Lego has come out with a special line just for the Tolkien series. The Council of Elrond is a good buy for several reasons: It comes included with 4 characteristic minifigures (of which I think Gimli is absolutely adorable), a cleverly designed set complete with rotating and launching mechanisms (not to mention several spare rings), and clear instructions. Only problem is I don't know where I will put it--as I finished building it within a couple hours, otherwise I would definitely buy up a lot more of these Legos!
