Special Diets for Special Kids, Volumes 1 & 2 Combined

I first came across this book when a teacher I work with went to a conference and bought it there. She was excited to show it to me as she knew I was cutting out all preservatives from my own child's diet.I loved being able to read the intro chapters on how diet effects those with different things going on with their bodies. Mine has ADHD tendencies. So much of it really makes sense and we have been changing our diets to reflect this new awareness. I have cut out almost all of the preservatives and even a lot of the glutens from our diet and we see a big difference. Teachers a definitely appreciate that we made the change and comment on the difference it has made.I like the recipes included in this book. Even my oldest, who was away from college at the time, likes the book and asked for his own copy and uses the recipes on a regular basis. Thanks Mrs. Lewis for putting this book together. I have even told others about this wonderful resource.

My daughter-in-law, my 4-year old grandson, and I are all on the gluten-free, casein-free diet. I purchased this book hoping to find kid-friendly recipes. I have only tried a fee recipes from this book and, for the most part, they have been well received - even by my husband and son who are not on the diet.I was particularly excited to learn about the DariFree milk substitute so I don't have to use a soy powdered milk. I am also happy to have a recipe for a GF Worcestershire sauce and onion soup mix. There are also recipes for evaporated milk , sweetened condensed milk, and "whipped cream" substitutes. My grandson loved the chocolate syrup recipe drizzled on the pineapple velvet cake!

I love this recipe book! The pictures are gorgeous. The recipes are easy. And I love that she sometimes includes some tips or adaptations to the recipes, to accommodate various dietary needs. The one thing I continually go to this book for, and come up empty handed... I really wish it had a pizza recipe!!!

I'm really impressed with this cookbook. My 2 year old son is autistic and so far he has eaten everything we've made from this cookbook. The book also has a lot of good information about autism, and what gluten and casin does for their diets. It also gives other information that my family has found very important as we've begun to understand autism. What a great cookbook.

i just have to say how pleased I am with this book. SPFSK Has so many wonderful recipies that are easy to use!! I would highly reccomend this for any parent of autism, or for parents dealing with celiacs disease!! Such an informative book, with many recipies and pictures! I hope you enjoy this as well!

I bought this book thinking it would give me some ideas. Unfortunately most of the recipes were simple common recipes. The gluten free bread recipe was good. But I was dissapointed.

This book has simple recipes which I was looking for to meet dietary restrictions. I do not have young children, but have dietary restrictions and the recipe ideas a great for all ages. It contains good information as well.

This is "GREAT" book. Lots of info and things to make. I had to make some changes to some of them because my son's diet is stricter, but they gave me a very wonderful base to work with. For a lady that never cooked this was great book.

Very informative book. I expected more recipes but there are a lot there.

Good book but would be better with British recipes instead of American as I wasn't sure what some ingredients were but still average good book still practicing some recipes

Not the best.

This book has lots of recipe options and information about proper substitutes to use and why. I've made quite a few recipes out of here successfully but wish there were more pictures as well
