OrcaTorch D700 Review
The media could not be loaded. D700:Overview: I wanted a new backup dive light that could be used for true technical diving. A light that simply twists on and off with no fancy modes or buttons to fail at the wrong time.So how did the D700 do?In the case: It comes with spare o-rings, a lanyard, one 5000 MAH 26700 OrcaTorch branded battery, a lithium USB charging cable, an instruction manual, a warranty card, and a carrying/storage case. (Boltsnap shown not included)Build and design: It’s built very tough. The overall quality feels durable and solid in hand. The simple twist-activated design should keep it watertight. I much prefer this to a button. The tube threading is square cut and screws together with ease. The D700 uses a polished reflector, which gives a clean 6-degree spot with a halo. I prefer this to the eggshell reflector found on some of Orcatorch’s other dive lights. The ribbing and branded orange rubber band look great and provide plenty of grip.Triple O rings for a watertight seal.Depth Rated 150m IXP-8142mm x 36mm x 27mmPower and charging: It’s powered by a single efficient 5000 MAH 21700 battery. The light includes one battery & USB-C cable for charging. No dedicated battery charger is required.Reverse polarity Protection and over-discharge protection function mean that non-protected lithium cells are able to be used. These batteries are easier to find and cost less than the protected models.Storage Case: Functional zippered soft storage case includedSimple: The light is intuitive and easy to use. Simply twist on and twist off. I am able to do this one-handed with ease.Attachment points: Options for securing. There is a single attachment point on the tail of the light. You can use the provided lanyard or in my case, a 316SS Boltsnap secured with #24 cave line. The Boltsnap was not included with the D710 but Orcatorch does offer one for purchase separately called the SH02 Boltsnap Hook.Beam: The Luminus SST-40 emitter creates a tight 6-degree spot that works well with the halo.1700 claimed lumens.Max Runtime 1 hour 50min (5000 mah battery)27500 Stated CandelaColor Rendering Index (CRI) of >706500 Kelvin Color SpectrumFinish: Strong anodizing. The finish shows little wear after multiple dives. The light was not babied and just thrown into my dive bag. Shows zero signs of wear after multiple dives.Final Thoughts:Pros:-Powerful and high sustainable outputs-Throws tight light beam very far away. Easy to light things up far away.-Solid build quality-Perfect Size. Lots well on my backplate harness or in a pocket.-Twist activation is operational with one-handed use.-Includes one 21700 5000 MIH battery and USB C cable charger. Added value.-Bright enough to serve as a primary light on clear-water recreational dives-USB C battery makes for simple charging without the need for a dedicated charger.-Intelligent Multiple Electronic Circuit for added safety. Can use non-protected cells.-Nice zippered and padded storage case is included.-Good value-The d700 has earned a place in my dive kit. This is my new favorite backup light.Con’s:-Relatively low color rendering index (CRI) rating >70-Limited run time due to only having one brightness setting at maximum.-I wish I found this light sooner!

Outstanding light, primary or backup
I've been using OrcaTorch lights for over six years now. Like their other products I've owned I found this to be a great light as well as a great value. At 1700 lumens this light is a solid choice for a primary light, but it's still small enough to make a convenient backup light. The rotary switch means there's no danger of it turning on or off by accident. This is an essential feature for a backup light, as you can keep it in a bcd pocket and be confident that the battery won't be drained when you need it. This light is much brighter than most other lights of similar size, so if you do need to switch to it as a backup you'll have all the light you would expect from a primary light.I often stick a light or two in the sand as navigation aids on my night dives and again, the rotary switch is key for this role. I did this with push-button lights for a while but inevitably the button somehow got activated and I had to spend considerable time searching in the dark for them. I know I'll never have that problem with the D700.The beam on this light is quite narrow and on my night dives it penetrates far into the darkness. This should make it an excellent spotting light and I plan to take it on some blackwater dives for this purpose.Continuing the trend of innovative features I've seen with their other products is the ability to charge the batteries directly with a USB-C cable (included). I have soo many battery chargers already for underwater camera equipment so I'm very pleased that I don't need yet another bulky OEM charger for this light. There's even a status LED right on the battery itself.Day or night, primary or backup, technical or recreational, this is a light that can meet your needs.

A simple but very effective dive light
The D700 comes in a nice protective box and a rechargeable battery #21700 of 5000mAh. The battery has an integrated USB plug and comes with the USB cable (type C) needed to charge it. It is very convenient when you travel, as you don't have to carry an extra charger. Nowadays, wherever you are in the world, there is a way to charge over USB! You can plug it with your cell charger, a computer or a power bank. For the lamp itself, its simple design makes it less prone to breakdown. There is no switch, you just screw the head to turn it on and unscrew a ¼ turn to turn it off. The head has a triple seal, so nearly impossible to flood it. Extra o-rings are supplied as well as a lanyard. The light is advertised as 1700 lumens but feels more powerful, maybe because you get a wide beam and a concentrated beam in the middle (advertised as 6°). You can see in the photo that it illuminated my whole backyard and the trees are 100' (30m) away. Lastly, it feels very solid thanks to the aircraft-grade high strength aluminum. I'm very impressed by this light and highly recommend it.

Soild, bright dive light. Highly reccomend!!
This is my new prinary dive light. It is compact and sturdy. The light illuminates the way and wildlife very well. It's probably the brightest light I have used. With three o-rings I am confident that this flashlight will not flood during a dive. Two extra o-rings are imcluded. It easily turns on by gently twisitng the handle. There is no way it will accidentally turn on.I have yet to use the entire life of one battery on a dive. Two 21700 batteries are included. They ate very easy to charge. They plug directly into the wall. No adapter necessary. This light also comes with a long adjustable strap that can be hooked onto a bcd or tightened around the wrist.I can't say enough good things about this dive light. I took it on two dives so far and have been blown away by the performance. You will not regret this purchase!
