Tales of the Greek Heroes (Puffin Classics)

this is a great book I purchased it even though my son was a little old for it. he still enjoyed it this book is a great read and could be introduced in elementary school It was recomended to me on the rick riordan website (the author of percy jackson and the olympians series) this series is great for gettings kids to search for other books on mythology and history "the tales of the greek heroes" was fun as an accompnyment because tit brought further life to the myths and stories being presented for many hours of fun. this book is also a good stand alone book for kids makes history and myths fun

My grandson is enjoying his books for Christmas. He especially likes the Puffin Classics.

Our 9 year old grandson found this good to read and easily understandable. He had an interest in Greek mythology already and wanted a book of his own. This filled that need nicely.

Good quality book, but my kids thought it was boring. My 6th graders were asked to read this book for summer reading and neither of them finished it. It’s not a problem with the book itself though, just not interesting to them.

...told in story form. Almost biblical in language, and that makes it kind of fun. Great background if you're reading Rick Riordan's Greek/Roman books; almost a must-read for that, since he, himself recommends and wrote the forward for this book, which he read growing up and used as the starting point for his mythological accuracy. And yes, kids who are reading about Percy and Jason can understand this book including Perseus and Jason very easily.

My daughter fell in love with the Percy Jackson series a while back and she has been obsessed with Greek Mythology ever since.She has the D'aulaires' Book of Greek Myths, as well, but when I saw this one as part of the Puffin Classics series, I bought this one to see if it had any new stories in it. The illustrations are few but fantastic, and it is a great book for an older set of children. The D'aulaires is good for kids from kindergarten up, but this one requires a more sophisticated reader. If you have a child who reads at or around a 3rd grade level with confidence, they can likely handle this book. My 9 year-old daughter read it cover to cover and loved every page.

This book provides a basic easy to read version of the greek myths that is fun to read but is clearly aimed at at younger audience. I also found that certain stories seemed to just pop up for a paragraph inserted among another tale altogether and seemed a little glossed over such as the tale of Arachne. Still for the price this is by no means a bad book and would make a good introduction for younger readers.

Really cool book, it`s like adventure and stuff and its action packed. Hey, if you like Greek mythology, then I suggest you read these series, Heroes of Olympus, Percy Jackson and the Olympians, and The Kane Chronicles. Also, try the books, Son of Sobek, and Staff of Serapis. They`re about modern day teen half-bloods that face the same dangers that the old heroes faced. They are the best books ever. The books are written by Rick Riordan, the best author ever, who helped out making this book.

I was eager to know about the great myths of Greek gods. This book didn't disappoint me. It is written in simple words and you won't need to be good at vocabulary. It also has illustrations but I wish they were more in numbers.

It gave a lot of information on Greek mythology and gave me a better understanding of it, very helpful and educational.

So as a young lad, I had a stunning illustrated (Janet and Anne Grahame Johnstone) hardback "Tales of the Greeks and Trojans" by the same author which had belonged to my mother since she was a child. A copy of that was impossible to find, so I settled for this little paperback to get my own kids started on thier mythology. I'm so glad I settled a bit, we've had the best time reading this together at bedtime, especially the scary and gruesome bits. The names, characters and places come thick and fast, so you may need to stop and explain things here and there or remind them who is who, but I'm so happy to be on this epic journey with them. Ready to start the Trojan war with them tonight, I'm counting the hours.
