I bought mine to be a desk fan and on the low setting it's quiet enough but I do have to point it away from me when I receive a call (call center job). On high it's a lot quieter than bigger fans that move the same amount of air. It's sized to be a fan for a whole room but it's small enough to work as a personal fan. If you need this blowing on you while using a mic for any reason... probably too loud for that. If you want a low noise level while you're sleeping, even on high it's pretty quiet.

The 62 model does the head pivot 90 degrees?

I bought this for my daughter's classroom. I believe that it does pivot 90 degrees.

Differences to the 683 model? When a brand does not clear lists the differences, we buy other brands.

I'm in the same boat as you as I need to buy two of these and there is very little information on the differences between the two. From what I've gathered the 602 is slightly larger, listed at 20.3x20.3 inches for the diameter of the fan housing and a 9.3 inch grill, versus the 683 with a 18.5x18.5 case diameter. I couldn't find anything about grill diameter on the 683. The adjustable height on the 602 is also greater at 33-43" vs. the 683 at 32-38". I am most interested in the fan power specs which I can't find. But with slightly larger blades (I'm assuming here based on diameter), I'm guessing the 602 might push a bit more air. Also, somewhere it listed the 602 with a max range of 100 ft. whereas the max range I've found for the 683 is 75 ft. (Amazon lists both at 75 ft. max). Hope that helps someone. Based on this, I will probably go with the 602s.
