Quality looks good
Very high quality so far. Started my single phase Baldor 5HP motor on my bandsaw right up.I will likely purchase another one for my drum sander.I recommend this magnetic starter for single phase motor applications rated at 5HP.

Short term
Hooked this up on my 5 hp air compressor worked great for 4 or 5 times kicking on now kicks off as it should but have to push start button to kick back on every time, no automatic kick on

Great product
It’s a great starter for the price and it worked perfect for the application that I used it on. Congrats on your new venture.

Did the job I needed it to do
This starter comes with pre-wired start/stop buttons. Attractive quality inside and outside. Would buy again.

damaged due to zero packing protection
There was zero packing protection...the magnetic starter was broken in two places: one of the start button was completely broken and a wire was broken. The relay plastic housing was also broken at a screw attachment point.rather than wait for a replacement, I had to carefully reassemble the start button switch, replace a wire and crimp it properly and reattach. Used JB weld to fix a screw "leg" on the lower part of the relay. This took me about 2 hours to do correctly. Shipping a magnetic switch without any packing protection is just stupid and it's dangerous. Fortunately, I inspected everything before I connected it to power!!In terms of functionality, the unit worked. But the wiring instructions are incomplete and in some case the images and instructions are simply WRONG.If you are not familiar with high power devices for switching power, DO NOT buy this item. If you attempt to repair a high power device such as this, and you do not have a strong background is testing and troubleshooting and working with high power electrical devices, DO NOT BUY THIS ITEM!I used this device to replace a twenty year old mag starter that failed on a vintage 5 hp single phase, dual stage air compressor. The mag switch housing is very small, so be prepared to work small miracles actually connecting it up correctly. The ground lug is inexplicably located on the exterior of the sheet metal box. I modified the box and tapped my own ground screw in a location INSIDE the sheet metal housing where it belongs. The mag starter was wired from T1 to a screw behind it with a small gauge jumper. However, this should have been two individual leads to connect to pressure switch wiring. I removed that stupid jumper and made my own direct connection to the pressure switch using proper sized wire and wire blade lugs.My power and the electric motor use 4 awg wire. It was very difficult to crimp flat blade connectors to these large wires and get that to actually fit in the small connector spaces. After some review, it was obvious that the prior installer used way over sized gauge wires for power in to old contactors and oversized wires from the electric motor to the relay part of this mag starter. I carefully evaluated the correct size wiring for the electrical loads involved and that resulted in being able to size the wiring down to 10 AWG stranded. In that size, I still had difficulty making crimped blade connectors fit to this small format mag starter, but it did work. Anything larger than 10 awg wire is just not going to work.the on and off switch button wiring was way too short and looked one size too small to handle power. I replaced all of that with my own wiring to 12 awg stranded with better kapton insulation for longer life.attachment of the mag starter assembly to the sheet metal box with sheet metal screws was very difficult. The reasons for this difficulty is that the screws are partially hidden (blind) and very difficult to pass a screw driver past the mag starter to get to those screws and tighten them down. I could only fasten down three screws to hold the mag starter inside the sheet metal housing.overall, the mag starter is what you expect for such a cheap price. however, it is unacceptable that the shipper did not care to protect this device with any packaging protection.I would not buy this product again and I do not recommend.
