Easy to use and cubes come out nicely
Fits well in the freezer. Ice cubes come out nice and easy to remove from the mold. Ice is clear and is fun to use in my drinks.

Brand new and loving them
I ordered these last week in three colors as well as the Orb ice cube tray and the smaller cube version of this. I used to own similar ice cube trays from Ikea (smaller sized cube tray) but found over time a bad taste/smell formed and I noticed a film on the surface of drinks when I used the cubes. Both of these issues have been mentioned towards this brand as well. This brand may actually be the same brand found in Ikea, I am not sure. Because these issues and solutions were mentioned in other reviews (cleaning with vinegar etc, etc..) I felt I was making a pretty informed decision and was prepared for whatever issues may develop. After using the cubes for the first time about 10 minutes ago I have to say I LOVE these trays. They are not perfect, but the resulting cubes are exactly what I have always wanted.Lets get the bad out of the way first. They are silicone so I expect them to be soft and not hold their shape holding it with one hand. I expect to have to use two hands after they are filled. The individual walls are a bit thinner than I expected and they are less firm than their smaller cubed counterparts but they are pretty much what I expected. Fill with care to the top, hold it steady with two hands, and place on a flat surface in the freezer. The only bad thing I really have to say about these trays are I expected to be able to sit them on top of each other in the freezer. With the smaller cubed tray you can fill them, stack them, and they sit level on top of each other. These trays have a beveled bottom so if you place them on top of another tray of the same size, it sits into the tray below. If you want square cubes then you pretty much have to fill the tray to the top. If you want to rest them on top of each other you have to guess how far to fill to and then stack a tray into it. This will result in possible spills if you guessed the water level wrong and a ice cube that is no longer square. Certainly not an issue if you were not going to stack them and of course after they are frozen you can stack them. My solution was to mix the jumbo size cube trays and the normal size cube trays alternating between the two. I was able to stack them nicely and all the cubes came out square. The biggest pro to these cubes are they are huge! You know when you fill a cup with ice and a warm drink and you take a sip and it's not cold yet... Not with these!! I use really big glass mugs so I can fit 3-4 of these cubes into a mug. I filled it with liquid and by the time I sat down with the mug my first sip was cold! no waiting, no mixing, just pour and drink a cold beverage! The cubes also last a long time like other reviewers have said. Because your ice lasts longer you drink does not get as watered down and you can refill and still have an immediate cold drink. If you use a smaller glass you may have an issue of more ice than drink in your cup but my solution to that is, just get a bigger cup :)Since I have just gotten this product I am interested in how they will perform after freezing something other than water. Will they eventually hold a bad taste? and will I be able to get rid of it with vinegar? Will they somehow start to form a weird film that will float in my drink? I certainly hope not. Time will tell.If you want large ice cubes that will quickly cool your drink and last a long time, these trays are the way to go. I love em, and look forward to creating a bunch of cubes and storing them in a sealed container it the freezer. This way I can just reach in my freezer and quickly pull out the number I want.

Most excellent for Mai Tais
tl;dr: This thing is pretty sweet. Buy it.Let me start by stating the obvious: this thing makes ice. And it does it well. If your freezer can freeze, removal's a breeze, but that's not why you're here. You read 600 reviews of a $9 ice cube tray to find out if this is the product that will finally turn your life around and I'm here to tell you it is.The cubes pop out easily and are nice and big with beveled bottom edges (pro tip: flip the cube over and it's got beveled top edges). And here's the kicker: these suckers are big. They fit in a Collins glass, but they create a nice big surface across the top of your beverage that is awesome for floating dark rum over your Mai Tai. If you're clumsy like me, this is a perfect alternative to trying to float using a spoon. It probably even works for virgin drinks (blueberry juice over ice tea? Sounds lovely!).So what about scotch? I take mine neat, but on a hot day a rock might be a welcome addition given a 90 degree liquor cabinet and these cubes cool beverages nicely but melt slowly. Anyone with half an understanding of thermodynamics knows that if it isn't melting quickly, it's not sopping up the heat in the beverage at large as quickly as quick melting crushed ice. This means these cubes really shine in their role as longer term solutions to your beverage's cooling problems. These are slow melting cubes for keeping your drink cool longer. You want it cold fast? Shake it with ice before pouring it over one of these.Final thoughts: this is a great tray, making large cubes. It's not the only size tray you should have, but it's well worth the purchase.

Very Nice, Large Ice Cubes
UPDATE: How I finally made almost clear cubes with the Tovolo KING Cube Ice Trays. To get the best results, start with distilled water. Filtered water will give decent results, but not the best. It's important to have the cubes freeze slowly for maximum clarity. Some people have done this by keeping their freezer at a temperature not much below freezing, but this isn't going to work if you also use your freezer to store frozen food and ice cream. I solved the problem by making a small box of styrofoam boards, held together with painters tape. The walls of the box are about 2 1/4" thick and the box is just large enough to hold the Tovolo King Cube tray. Putting the tray in this box will drastically slow the freezing process. One of the reasons that home made ice cubes are not clear is due to air dissolved in the water. When the water freezes, this air comes out of solution as visible cloudy areas and bubbles. When you heat water, the amount of dissolved air that it can hold decreases. Cold water can hold a lot of air; hot water much less. I bring my distilled or filtered water to a boil and then shut off the heat and let it cool to between 185 F and 190 F. I put the King cube tray into the styrofoam box and then fill it with the hot water, using a funnel. Pour slowly, with a minimum of turbulence. USE CAUTION WITH THIS STEP; THE WATER CAN SCALD YOU! To reduce air going back into solution in the water as it cools, I put a piece of plastic wrap over the top of the King cube tray. Then I put the styrofoam cover on the box and place the box in the freezer. It takes about 48 hours for the cubes to freeze. Most of the cubes will be nearly clear, with a small star-burst pattern of bubbles. A few of the cubes may be completely clear. If you really want to put a finishing touch on your cubes, place the top surface of the cube face down on a granite counter top and let it melt for a minute of two. This will flatten the top surface and give a perfectly clear, smooth face. As this is going on, all of the other faces melt slightly and become smoother. Place them back in the freezer and you're good! The next challenge you'll face is getting them in a drink without cracking. The best approach I've found is to chill the liquid I'm adding to the drink in the refrigerator. I put the cube in the glass first and then SLOWLY add the liquid. If I'm lucky, the cube won't crack at all. The large, clear, un-cracked cube looks really cool in the glass.OK, I know that this is not going to be for everyone. If you have a little geek in you and can appreciate the fleeting beauty of large, clear ice cubes...give it a try.______________________________________ORIGINAL REVIEWI like the cubes these trays make just because they're BIG! One cube in a drink is all it takes, and they just look amazing. On the practical side, because they have a low surface area to volume ratio, they last a long time. Your drinks will stay cold without being diluted as much as they are with multiple small cubes. Before I used the trays for the first time, I washed them with vinegar and water. I've been using them for a little over a month and so far, no problems with odor or taste. I've had no trouble getting the frozen cubes out of the trays.I've also become obsessed with trying to make perfectly clear cubes. I always use Britta filtered water, but that by itself doesn't help. I then tried boiling the water, cooling it and then making cubes. No dice. Next, I boiled it twice. Nada. If you just put the trays in the freezer, they will freeze at the top first. I figured if I could get the bottom to freeze first, I might avoid the cloudiness at the bottom. I took some foam boards and insulated the top and sides of the tray, while exposing the bottom to air. This came fairly close, but I noticed that the small amount of cloudiness in the cubes was concentrated toward the center of the tray. I then tried leaving frozen cubes in 3 of the 6 molds and making new cubes in the remaining 3 holes. Naturally, I did it both with the 3 cubes in one row and then with the 3 cubes in alternating rows. Not really any improvement. Then I read that commercial ice makers make their cubes in layers, sort of the way icicles are formed. I tried adding filtered, twice boiled water one or 2 tablespoons at a time, waiting for the layer to freeze and then adding more. I got very cool looking cubes from this, but not clear ones.Has anyone had success with this? If so, how did you do it?

Excellent Silicone Tray for slow melting, sleek looking Ice Cubes
Excellent item, it takes less space in the freezer than regular buckets and the ice cubes are just amazing, good looking and with the slow melting effect they claim. Most important things for me when I bought this item were:1. The size of the cube which as advertised is a 2 inch slow melting cube, it goes pretty well when having any liquor on the rocks (in this case rock 😀) or any other drink for that matter. You can easily have 2-3 bourbon\scotch (low cut) size glasses with just one ice cube.2. The silicone material, makes it really easy to take the ice cube out with almost no effort. Now, other thing that I have to comment (and how to fix it) is about the smell (I'm really picky about it) and how it could potentially absorb it from your freezer and pass it to your drinks (it took around 5 months in my case to be in that situation), you will get that starchy flavor you get on whatever you leave in the freezer for a long period of time (regardless of how well you maintain your freezer). This is one of the things that sort of prevented me in the past from getting these kind of items because they are not as "disposable" as a regular ice tray. Now, after spending some time looking for solutions that ranged from soaking them overnight on vinegar or other various products to taking them to a tarot session and have them read their future to see if it will be gone, well, I found the solution that actually doesn't take that long and it removes the smell\flavor from it. It's simply to put it inside your oven at 275-300 (Bake) for about 20-40 mins and lo and behold, the smell will be gone, the amount of time may vary, but I would leave it at least a solid 20-30 mins and then take it on a 10 min basis to check it (by having a quick whiff at it), this solution, applies to all cooking ware (silicon made). Anyway, after acquiring this peace of knowledge, I wasn't afraid to get some extra trays and replace the regular plastic ones, as from my POV they are worth it. Hope you find it helpful.-
