2020 PNSO “A-Qi” the Sinoceratops Late 2020 saw a flood of PNSO figure releases, among them was a gorgeous new Sinoceratops. What stood out to me immediately was the name “A-Qi”, as it is the same name given to PNSO’s baby Sinoceratops from earlier in 2020. So, little A-Qi has grown up, and what an absolute beauty she is! As with all PNSO figures, A-Qi comes with a pamphlet containing some nice photos, as well as information about A-Qi, and Sinoceratops in general. The head sculpt is near perfection. There’s a great variety of facial scalation. From the large scales below the eyes, to very fine scales on the frill, everything is sculpted with care. The horns look incredibly realistic. As is the beak. All of them are incredibly sharp. This is definitely not a figure for smaller children. The ear openings and nostrils are sculpted as well, and are carved very deeply for added realism. This all raises the figure to an incredible level of believability. The stunning sculptural details continue across the entire figure. The scalation is immaculate, and is some of the best I’ve seen. Large, rectangular scales cover the belly. Small, pebbly scales adorn the majority of the body, with the occasional large scale or osteoderm scattered about. The attention to detail with the skin folds and wrinkles is breathtaking. The pose sees the Sinoceratops turning sharply to the right, as if turning to face an oncoming predator. The muscles in the neck are flexed, the skin bunches on the right side, and stretches taut on the left. The bunching skin is wonderfully sculpted all along the right side of the body as well. Especially around the right rear leg as it pushes into the body. There are some great wrinkles on the elbows and knees as well. The left side shows skin stretching tightly, causing the rib cage to become visible through the skin. The left rear leg pulls the skin as it moves as well. Everything is just incredibly well done. There are lots of great small details as well, such as a cloaca slit (however, it’s not very pronounced) and the toe pads of each foot (which are also well scaled). The paint is applied with great care, and is quite beautiful. I especially love the patterning on the head. The head easily has the best paint application on the entire figure. The horns are painted realistically, with a nice gradation between an ivory point, and a darker horn base. The eyes are beautiful, and add a lot of character. I love the thin little ring of black eyeliner PNSO applied to help the eyes pop as well. The eyespots on the frill are a great touch too. (No strange head holes on THIS Sino!) The entire head is covered in a glossy coating, which is meant to give it a keratinous look. It really does look great, in my opinion. The body coloration is pretty plain in comparison to the head, but it looks great nonetheless. All of the colors are blended to perfection as well, and the scale work really pops. My only minor issues are with the nostrils and ear openings. I only wish that PNSO had applied some dark paint inside the openings to make them stand out more. I would have also liked to have seen the darker body striping from the baby version, carried over to the adult. Actually, those three little nitpicks are my only issues with this figure. This one is incredible, and I give it my highest recommendation!
