Because you can't use 2 foot ascenders on a climbing rope without conflict, i used this strap attached to a hand ascender. While climbing the strap at your boot swings out from centre away from your climbing rope. An outside wrap or strap to keep the foot loop close to the climbing rope is needed. A carabiner here can work but can also dig uncomfortably into the side of your boot.

So the highest pitch of my roof is 32ft. I really didn’t want to kill myself hanging Christmas lights so I decided to tie a rope to a tree in the backyard and drape it over the house to hook into with a harness and the Ito Rocky Climbing Belay. Needless to say the plan worked flawlessly. When I was on the ladder it secured me in case of a fall. At points I actually relied completely on the device while I was on the roof. I could hang by it and let myself down using the handle. Awesome!

This is a well-made climbing equipment that played a huge role in my last climb. If I use ATC when I grab the rope in panic, I wouldn't be here to tell you this story. It will allow for a proper rappel descent by applying more or less pressure to the handle, neither completely depressing nor completely releasing the handle that will only make you immobile. We all make mistakes, but in climbing a mistake can be deadly. This is an extra barrier of safety, recommend.

It’s an ascender. You climb up and slid it up. It’s just big and chunky. And feels sloppy. Never an issues with using it. Just feels meh.
