Excellent value and fun to use.
Edit: I just want to add that this joystick works totally fine with Pac-Man. The joystick's gate is oriented in a square 4/8 config. The problem in Pac-Man would be from the user firing an angle instead of a primary direction--so to eliminate that issue for anyone wanting to--you could rotate the gate's insert to go with a diamond shape and eliminate the 8-way functionality you get from the default orientation's corners and only have 4-way. I don't think that would be a very good idea though because it's fully functional for any style game as it is. I've played Pac-Man, Shoot 'em ups, Brawlers, Fighting games and all do very well with this stick. I think it's very likely the people complaining about the joystick's functionality in Pac-Man are likely the type of people who are unhappy about everything anyway, and probably aren't very good at Pac-Man to begin with.I like these joysticks a lot, I've purchased two and in my opinion they're a great value and offer a unique and very enjoyable control option for the NES/SNES Classic systems. The joysticks themselves are Sanwa JLFs with a square restrictor gate, and the 2 primary buttons are 30mm size with microswitches. They also feature cool variable-speed turbo functionality with a led indicator that pulses with the turbo-speed setting; it's somewhat flawed in that on so many games the slowest speed is too fast or on some games if it's on it'll always fire even when you don't press the button it's on for--so that aspect is disappointing at times, but I'm still very happy to have the functionality and enjoy it for the games it works well with. It comes with a ball top and bat top for the joystick so you can use whichever you prefer. I like the packaging and it comes with cool simple strategy guide for the NES Classic's included games.Given the price of this unit ($13.99 at the time of my purchase) in my opinion you could not buy the components let alone have something ready to roll with your Classic system for anywhere near what they're selling it for. If you have a Classic and you like using a joystick, I highly recommend this item.

Terrible Joystick for the NES Classic Edition
Growing up I owned an NES Advantage and it was my go to Joystick for my Nintendo system back in the day due to the turbo buttons and responsiveness of the controller. I was really looking forward to using this device with the NES Classic Edition.Pros:Looks like the NES Advantage from back in the day.Cons:Plays nothing like the NES Advantage from back in the day. Joystick felt like there was sand or some particulates underneath the base, no smoothness whatsoever when using.Joystick is very laggy and downright unresponsive to action on screen. Do not try playing the Air Man level for Mega Man 2 with this joystick unless you want to build yourself up into a psychopathic rage.Buttons are loud and as unresponsive as the joystick.Bottom Line:Stay away. One last note, I paid for a new controller, but the box and joystick were very obviously used, the tape on the product box peeled off and replaced with scotch tape, controller had finger prints on it. I suspect someone previously shared the same sentiment that I had for this device, and it is very crummy that it was repackaged and sold to me as new. Again, stay away.

Clicky joystick very satisfying! The buttons are ok. Very similar to original from 80’s
The joystick is nice and clicky so you have a nice audible cue! So satisfying. So good. The buttons work fine. They just feel weird and spongy it’s a fairly good approximation of the old Advantage joystick from back when with some choice differences.

Looks Cool!
Our kiddo has a wild imagination and insisted he needed this for his office set up. It was exactly perfect for what he wanted. It's never been connected, and I can't tell you if it works, but it looks exactly what we hoped it to be.

Okay Joystick
Bought this joystick to make it easier for the family to play games on the NES Classic Edition. While the joystick itself has that classic feeling, the controller is just okay. The A and B button and rapid fire work just fine, but the joystick itself is not that intuitive and lacks overall responsiveness. This was really noticeable with Pac-Man, Mike Tyson Punch-Out, Super Mario Bros., etc. Overall, the price makes it a palatable purchase, but I wouldn't spend a dime more then what I paid for it.

Defective
Based on the other low reviews, my best guess would be that whatever company is producing these has zero quality control. The unit I received out of the box had the gray turbo pacing knobs almost entirely flush with the housing, meaning in order to turn them, you have to push down on them to get enough friction and sort of turn them on the top with your finger. Certainly not to spec. The controller itself didn't work at all when plugged into the classic. The only functionality I saw at all was the red signal LEDs come on when you push the turbo buttons, but absolutely no functionality from the controller itself.Avoid like the plague.
