One Mug to Rule Them All
Just like you, I've tried too many travel mugs to count. They either didn't keep my coffee hot or they dribbled hot coffee down my shirt or they sloshed all over my car's cupholder. They've all been consigned to Goodwill. And then I saw this beauty.I picked this one up and it immediately felt comfortable in my hand as a function of the handle that's attached to the screw-on lid. Travel mugs with open handles like this one can also be really helpful for people with limitations to their hand mobility like arthritis, because you don't have to rely on the strength of your grip to hold the cup, and you don't have to struggle to fit your hand through a closed cup handle. There are a couple of features that are the real selling points for me. The first is the fact that the "open/close" control is a toggle switch at the top of the handle. I can easily flip this back and forth with my thumb, and it makes a satisfying little pop! when you flip it open. I find this so much easier than fiddling with a circular sliding mechanism (sliding the top cover over or off of a hole in the lid of the mug), or flip tops on the top of the mug that fall back on my upper lid. So annoying - and who needs annoying early in the morning on the drive into work! The second feature I love is the vacuum seal that this toggle switch controls. There's a plastic and rubber gasket that seals the mug closed, and closing the seal actually creates a slight vacuum within the mug which makes for a strong seal between you and the coffee - no drips, spills, or sloshes. Pull back the toggle to the open position and the seal releases, channelling that sweet sweet caffeinated liquid straight into your mouth. NB: gaskets wear out - fact of physics, fact of life. I replaced my first one after about 5 or 6 years, which to me constitutes an excellent return on investment. And of course this mug actually keeps your coffee hot. The stainless steel base's double-walled insulation keeps it hot hot for about 3 hours, and nicely warm for a couple hours after that. I always have two of these in rotation, because sometimes I just can't wait for the dishwasher cycle to be done. Which oh, by the way - yeah, completely dishwasher safe.

It doesn't leak, but I'll tell you the downsides.
This cup is fantastic, and hands down one of the best I've ever had. I love it, but I'll give an honest review.1) Since the lid is plastic, that coffee smell will stay. Nothing you can do to get rid of it after a few uses. But that's with any travel mug I've ever had, so that is more of a personal; woe rather than a product over-site.2) If you leave the lid sitting in dishwater, the handle tends to fill with water and then drip over time. This is annoying, but wash it after you use it, and you will never have this issue.3)Don't over-tighten. You can over-tighten and thread the cap. I've over-tightened it a few times (I forget my own strength at times) but again this is more my problem than a design issue.Overall I love this cup. I purchased one for my mom in silver, and I will be getting my wife one very soon. Phenomenal for personal use, or for a gift. Drink from any angle, and it keeps my coffee warm for over 4 hours... 4 HOURS of hot coffee!

Best mug ever for keeping coffee hot
This mug will keep my coffee warm for hours. It’s very sturdy and the handle fits nicely in my hand. My only problem, and this took a couple of years to happen, is the lit itself is hard to deep clean. It started getting build up that you can’t get to clean out, hence I no longer get an easy flow of coffee. I just ordered another one, abs this is the only drawback I’ve encountered.

Overall good travel mug
Good spill-proof travel mug. I typically wind up carrying it at odd angles as I head out to my car (usually have hands full) and this has not leaked at all. I drink my coffee over the course of my hour commute and the temperature stays consistently hot. The lid is designed so you can drink at any angle. My only two nitpicky things with it are that it is too tall for my Keurig without removing the bottom tray (otherwise fits fine) and again, because it is a tall mug, it makes it a little difficult to tip far enough back in the car to get the last few sips of coffee.

Trudeau journey YES
This travel cup is fantastic! I did a lot of research and finally bought two different cups from two different companies at the same time two weeks ago. This Trudeau is the cup I always use. I drink only cold drinks so I am interested only in cold retention and this one is perfect. I add ice in the morning and there is ice left at the end of my day, which usually runs 12-14 hours. It really does last all day long! Since I don't' drink coffee I can't speak of the heat retention but I have to believe it would stay hot equally well. The cup's balance is perfect and it is truly leak proof when closed. Lock it and then flip it upside down...it doesn't leak, even if shaken. Since I use carbonated drinks I don't leave it closed for really long periods (I'm afraid I'll damage the seal with the pressure buildup) but there isn't anything written by Trudeau that says that would happen. I always try to be proactive-sometime ridiculously so. I highly recommend this cup. It's great and is by far the best cup out of the 6 stainless steel travel mugs I've owned. My other Trudeau mug is the second best and it is over 10 years old. They make excellent products and they have great customer service if you ever need it. Get one and you'll be happy you did. This is the absolute best coffee cup I have ever used
This is the absolute best coffee cup I have ever used. I purchased my first one about 10 years ago. The design has changed so the new lid won't screw onto the old cup, but that is not really a problem. I love the tightness of the seal so coffee never spills if I knock over the cup in my office. I love that I can drink left or right handed and it keeps my coffee hot for hours. The best feature is that the seal is recessed so hot coffee doesn't touch my upper lip as soon as it comes out of the cup, which allows me to "test" the temperature before actually putting it into my mouth.

Love this mug!
I love that this mug, it doesn't leak, it has a handle so I can set it down when i walk the dog and pick it up in the dark and i don't need to figure out where the mouth piece is. It cleans up nice, i can clip the handle into my belt when my hands are full, and it has the "safety" on top for a thumb release similar to my "x-bolt".

Love it.
This is my third and I bought my mom one two and she loves it! You cannot find another travel mug with a handle that you can open/close/lock with one hand. Keeps my tea hot for hours.

Perfect mug
Love the lock mechanism. Completely spill free. A bit small (my previous mug was 18oz). Lightweight.

BEWARE!
I got my first Trudeau mug five years ago and still have it. It's great. I decided to get a second one as a spare. Big mistake! They've changed the composition of the metal and the new mug doesn't keep drinks hot. As soon as you fill it up, the outside starts to get hot. As an experiment, I filled the old and the new mugs with boiling water. After four hours, the water in the old mug was still too hot to drink. The water in the new mug was cold! This mug isn't cheap, so I was pretty angry that it doesn't keep coffee hot any better than one you buy at a dollar store. I gave it one star because it still has the same great design.
