It's tough to go wrong with this one. Capital Records was a powerhouse back in the fifties, and they got aboard the rock and roll express just like nearly everyone else. They put out some fine doo wop and R&B, as this disc easily shows. In my opinion, the cost of the entire CD is justified by just one song: Dream Girl by The Rob Roys. That song is one of the greatest doo wop songs of all time, sung by one of the greatest doo wop groups of all time. The song is so good, it sends chills up my spine every time I hear it.But the good news doesn't stop there. There's also a couple songs from lesser-known groups like Sammy Hagan and The Viscounts, and The Spinners. Also two from doo wop greats The Fascinators. There may be one or two songs on the disc that aren't quite up to par with the others, but all in all, this CD is well worth getting if you're a fan of old time doo wop.It gets four stars due to the extremely short number of songs ( what seems to be a Collectables trademark ), and I only give five stars out all-out classics.

( Rissue of MRB-171 )11.Love Me/The Latons Port-70030 196212.Tell Me You Love Me/The Chancellors Port-5000 195713.You Don't Know/The Dreamers ?14.Shorty's Got To Go/The Impressions Port-70031 196215.I'd Like To Say/The Suburbans ?16.Hand In Hand/The Eboniers Port-70013 1959ポート・レコードは、1957年～1967年ころまでニュー・ヨークに存在していたマイナー・カンパニー。非常にミステリアスなレコード会社で、調べてみたのですが詳しいことはほとんど分かりません。ジョシー・レコード（ザ・キャデラックスなどが在籍していた有名な会社）のオーナーだったJerry Blain(ジェリー・ブレイン）の息子のスティーヴ・ブレインという人物が、このポートのオーナーだったことくらいしかはっきりしません。発売されたレコードの年代もはっきりしないものが多い・・・本CDは解説がまったくないのですが、これだからちゃんと書いてくれないと困るんだよなあ。この会社の看板グループは・・・いません(笑)一番有名なのは、2と14のジ・インプレションズ。あのジェリー・バトラーが率いる有名グループですが、このシングルは59年にBanderaという会社から発売されたものを、62年に再発したもののようです。ベスト・トラックは、8.「Alphabet Of Love」（The Suburbans)でしょうか。ベース・ヴォーカルのイントロに続き、A・・・エンジェル、B・・・ベイビー・・・♪と歌われるアップ・テンポの軽快な曲で、リードの声を聴くと白人グループかもしれません。とても良い曲です。1.「There Goes My Baby」（The Chancellores)もアップ・テンポの軽快な曲でこれもなかなか。10.「Please Love Me Forever」(The Sedates)、これは58年にトミー・エドワーズという歌手が歌った曲で、60年にはキャシー・ジーン＆ザ・ルームメイツによって12位とヒットしたバラッド。非常に良い曲で、個人的に好みなのですが・・・手元にあるCD、もしくはすべてがそうなのかは分かりませんが、2分6秒あたりでスキップして途切れてしまうのです。２台のプレイヤーで確認しましたが、どちらも同じ個所でスキップしてしまうので、プレス・ミスなのかもしれません。これはものすごく残念（泣）。同じ現象が15曲目の1分43秒あたりでも起きてしまいます。これは酷い・・・というわけで解説がない、そして2曲がスキップしてしまうのでこの評価です。
