Lightwedge Paperback - Black Misc. Supplies – January 1, 2004

The Lightwedge is something I should have gotten a long time ago! I love to read late into the night and because I don't have a side bed lamp it comes in handy. The wedge fits perfectly in a standard paperback book. Perect as a book mark and small enough to fit anywhere! The wedge gives off enough light to luminate the words but not enough to hurt your eyes or disturb my sleeping husband. Now I can also read at night while traveling and not disturb the driver or the sleeping kids!

I bought a hardback version of one of these 11 years ago, and it is still in perfect condition, even after being dropped multiple times. I needed the paperback size for my smaller books, and so I ordered one, and it is just as perfect as my other (even though I haven't dropped it yet -Haha).

The first paperback lightwedge I purchased from Barnes and Noble as a present. When I tried it out; it worked great. The light illuminated the whole page evenly. Therefore, I decided to get another one for myself. The second lightwedge, though it appears to be the same product as the one I purchased earlier, does not shine uniformly over the glass. It sends two streaks of light from the bulbs with an area that does not overlap so the middle and edges of the glass are dimmer. If I would not have seen the first lightwedge, I don't think I would be as disappointed as I am with this one. It is still better than the awkward clip ons, less annoying to those around one.

Lighting is not even, len came scratched (and seems to scratch very easily- lens is very scratched after use) and it didn't come with even a very basic protective cover. On a positive note, I really like the fiber optic idea and the bright lighting it provides.

Read what you want without disturbing your partner. Highly recommended. Use it instead of a bookmark, and it's always ready.

Electricity port collapsed into the reader at the first use. Overall it has a feeling of a cheap build. It’s also too small to use comfortably: it fully illuminates only the smallest novel format. I still use it occasionally but when the plug fully collapses inside and I can recharge, it will just end up as more landfill. :(

After using several book lights this one is by far the best one I have used yet. The plastic that the light glows through effectively illuminates the entire page almost completely evenly.

Return reason: Different from website descriptionBuyer comments: The light is not illuminated evenly on a page. There are bright lights reflection stripes on the page. It ties my eyes reading with it. I was very unhappy with the product. I think it would work better with a flat optical-grade acrylic lens instead of a taper shape.
