The Definitive Guide to Editing with DaVinci Resolve 12.5 (Blackmagic Design Learning Series) Paperback – October 28, 2016

I've been Corel (Ulead) VideoStudio/MediaStudio user since 1999. I suffered a lot, and loathed editing video, and now I got my deliverance: DaVinci Resolve 14 Studio. $300? Oh it so well worth it! What a change. I am loving video editing and dabbling in color grading now, watching tons of youtube tutorials and otherwise just super-happy with making the switch. Tons of features, amazing performance, and only occasional glitches. The usb dongle does work for version 14, BTW. Anyway, get the product, enjoy the learning curve and enjoy your incredible videos.

I need this book to acquaint me to the buttons, procedures and flows for this great edit program which includes a fantastic color correction section. Paul Saccone, the author of this book does a thorough job introducing the parts of the system. I found that some of the descriptions of the basic procedures lacked exact keystroke guidance to get through and find hidden sections. But overall, I am really need this text to make me feel comfortable in the program.Its a good investment if you will be using Resolve to edit and color correct video.

This is an excellent introduction to Resolve for the novice to intermediate editor. The author walks the student through the editing process in a step-by-step manner. I was able to load the digital copy on my Amazon Fire, next to the computer and was readily able to follow the instructions. When the low cost of the Kindle edition is considered, this is an unbeatable value. A must-have text for those wishing to learn DaVinci Resolve.

Learning DaVinci Resolve is a large undertaking and this book is a great start. There are also many tutorials on the net and they are helpful but I found I needed a more comprehensive foundation and this book provides that. This book does not go into every detail of video editing but you must understand the basics and this is enough to get me started.

Excellent general introduction containing step-by-step instructions and listing important gotchas for working with Resolve. It's a good "applied" book in contrast to the Resolve manual, which is excellent but doesn't tell you what to do in which order like this book does.I had already used Resolve for about three months for a couple projects but this guide still taught me some things. I was formerly a Final Cut Pro user for many years.Unfortunately, the info boxes on the Kindle version display in a super small font and cannot be highlighted easy; I have to squint to read them.Also, note that this is basically an introduction to the editing features of Resolve only. For information on color grading, you will need another book too.

This was not that good, It was really just a condensed version of the 1300 page manual that one can download. It didn't offer any special insight into the use. A better title would have been introduction to DaVinci Resolve.

Coming from no experience with video editing, I found this book incredibly helpful. It's not just an informational reference, it's also a great learning reference with real video lessons to attempt and complete. I tried learning on YouTube but got confused with many things. Now my understanding is clear and conscise. Big thank you to the authors!!!

I'm unsure of why this book got the positive reviews I've seen here. I'm a former webmaster at Stanford University and I have an MBA. I'm VERY comfortable buying and using texts to learn about programs and software. This book is very poor. It's 2 levels down (current Resolve is at version 14.1). It's quite difficult to follow the steps and he often requires you to use commands and tools that are quite difficult to find among the large number on the screen at any time. Since each lesson builds upon a previous one, if you fail to do one exercise correctly, things won't line up on the next one. I did a Google search for other ways to learn Resolve and there are many less expensive ones out there. I'll go that route.

This must be the only training manual that I have actually read from start to finish! I really enjoyed the way the author explained each step in a no nonsense and clear way. You download the project video files and work on the project to complete the training exercises. I would recommend this training book to anyone who is using DaVinci Resolve video editing software for the first time.

Derjenige, der dieses Buch kauft, sollte einen nicht zu großen Einblick in Davinci Resolve verlangen. Stattdessen wird dem Leser ein guter Überblick über die Grundfunktionen des Buches gegeben. Dabei wird schnell ersichtlich, dass man für die wesentlichen Funktionen in Davinci Resolve die frei verfügbare Version ohne Probleme einsetzten kann. Erst wenn man z.B. mit der Rauschkorrektur oder speziellen Effekten arbeiten möchte, dann ist ein kostenpflichtiges Upgrade in Form eine Dongels notwendig.Noch ein Tipp für denjenigen, der sich das Ganze lieber am PC anschauen möchte, der sollte den Begriff "Digital Production Magazin" in seine Suchmaschine eingeben. Dort bekommt man fast 1:1 das gesamte Buch in kleinen verständlichen Videos zu sehen.Ich kann dieses Buch auch Personen raten, die kein perfektes Englisch sprechen. Mit mittleren Englischkenntnissen sollte dieses für jeden ausreichend verständlich sein.
