Omega-3
I basically wanted a non-fish oil pill for my aging mother so she didn’t accidentally bite into it and squirt her caregiver and make a mess. Happy to find a more ecologically friendly version. Arrived quickly and in good condition.

This product is actually non-GMO
I have been searching and searching for a true non-GMO read ingredients on label. All others have modified starch, which is non-GMO. For other ingredients that are not organic. This one is the only one that is pure in their ingredients.

Great product / horrible taste
I wish I could give it 5 stars because I really value pure high quality ingredients. However, it taste more fishy than actual fish capsules. I am pregnant but no longer in the nauseous stage and still, I gag every time I take these. I can barely get them down and then I continue to taste the fishy taste long after. They're not refundable so I'll finish the bottle but then I'll have to continue my search for something else that doesn't have fillers, etc, but is hopefully easier to take.

Differentiator is inclusion of AvailOm
The last few years, I've been rotating between fish oil and algae oil for my daily omega-3 consumption. In prior years, I had been a loyal customer of Nordic Naturals Ultimate Omega (sourced from fish oil) and this product from Ora Organic (sourced from algae oil) is a reminder of the existence of many quality alternatives. A lot of different opinions exist as to how much and at what ratio EPA and DHA should be consumed daily, so omega-3 supplements are typically differentiated by these attributes, as well as the sources and how these are processed. The aforementioned Nordic Naturals product uses a 1.44:1 EPA to DHA ratio, and contains other omega-3s not providing either of these, and this product from Ora Organic provides zero EPA. Quite the difference, right? While Ora Organic isn't specifically targeted for prenatal usage, DHA boosts brain health making it suitable for this purpose, whereas most omega-3 oils provide anti-inflammatory effects due to being high in EPA. Put differently, EPA is considered more of a "neck-down" omega-3 and DHA is considered more of a "neck-up" omega-3. One of the key differentiators of this product relative to other algae oils is its inclusion of "AvailOm", which combines omega-3 with l-lysine, providing a bioavailability more than 5x higher than traditional omega-3 fish oil soft-gel capsules. It would be helpful if Ora Organic instead compared bioavailability to other algae oil competitors. Based on some light research, it looks like this proprietary ingredient was first made available in Brazil and India, and is slowly being rolled out globally, beginning with Chile and Argentina in 2022. I've had a good experience with this product, which is offered at a decent price for a one-month supply, although because a serving size is two capsules you might choose to combine one capsule of Ora Organic with one capsule of another product, as I have done, to make a bottle last longer.

Good way to get Omega 3 for vegans, but doesn't taste better than fish oil
Fish oil is the common way for people to get their Omega 3 in a supplement. Obviously that doesn't work out so well for vegans/vegetarians, so this pill immediately has a market. Omega 3 is incredibly beneficial, and not consuming any animal/fish-based fats might lead to vegans/vegetarians really needing to supplement. I'm not vegan or vegetarian, but I don't love the taste of a fish oil pill. I was curious to see if this would end up better taste-wise. Maybe taste isn't the right word. You usually don't taste these or fish oil pills as you're swallowing them. The bad part is when you start burping up fishy nastiness. I figured these might fare better. Unfortunately, taste-wise they're very similar. They're algae-based, and the flavor that you might end up burping up and not enjoying is not that far removed from fish. It's definitely got an "of the sea" odor and taste. Some of the same tricks that work for fish oil pills work for these. I've tried taking these first before any other pills to kind of push them further down the digestive tract to prevent the flavor from coming up. The other option is to refrigerate them to prevent them from dissolving too soon after being swallowed. In any case, if you're vegan or vegetarian, these might be the best choice for you. They're just expensive and not much tastier than fish oil pills.
