I purchased this tamp because the little plastic one that came with my Rancilio is not only light and cheap but too small for the basket! Rancilio messed up big time on that one. Anyway I bought this one because it was cheap and the right size. Decent weight to it and the wood handle looks nice. I don't think there's any merit to buying any one tamp over another. This one will do ya just fine.

Fits just *perfectly* with the Gaggia Classic Pro and you should consider this essentially a must-have if you want good results with your machine. (The plastic one included with the Gaggia is embarrassing and with such a poor fit it barely functions!)I was looking all over for a tamper that wasn’t $30 that would fit my classic pro… with a bit of luck and extensive searching this one does the job! Even lines up just right with the double shot portafilter basket and fits like a glove to get a level tamp. Both the tampers handle and base are solidly constructed and excellent quality. The rubber mat that is included is also practically a must-have. A heavy and somewhat sharp piece of stainless steel needs a good home to not cause scratches or damage in the kitchen, and the little mat is ideal for this.I won’t have to buy another for the foreseeable future!

The 58 millimeter size is perfect for the Gaggia Classic Evo Pro. This is a sturdy, weighty, and well built unit. The pad allows you to compress coffee in the filter without damage to your countertop. The best tamper for the price I have ever owned.

This tamper is heavy and feels good in my hand.
