Powerful, Reflective Narratives We Can All Learn From
I read this book because it featured my coach, Marilyn Sutherland, who shared how her journey to build a relationship with her father shifted how she shows up in all relationships. Her contribution, "Daddy’s Girl?", made me give deep consideration to how expectations are affecting how I show up in relationships. She shared her reflections with thoughtful questions that make you want to "do the work" to change for the better. Her narrative wasn't a prescriptive, quick fix — it was an authentic reflection on the intentionality and deep work it takes to connect when it's hard.Overall, this book is a compilation of reflective, personal narratives that impart lessons we can apply in all of our relational contexts (personal, romantic and professional).

Personal and courageous
I know several of the authors and yet, these are stories I didn't know. You can imagine what it takes to sit down and write these stories, knowing that you will be judged and weighed.Sometimes among coaches and entrepreneurs, it feels like a competition of 'rags to riches' or 'overcoming tragedy'; this book has some of that, too. Or that success doesn't take education - the Elon Musk, Steve Jobs or Jeff Bezos who do not give credit to the many thousands highly educated people they depend on for their achievements. Even in this book, some of this American 'self-made' ideology shines through. In many of the stories the loneliness before the gamechanger is palpable. And yet, Iman's alumni do not claim "The Success Way" but go humbly (!) and without the "follow me" of marketing. Their purpose is to simply state that you own your future, whether you call it a gamechanger, a calling, a mission; whether you start alone or in a community - the future is yours to create. You must dare to act.If anything, the stories demonstrate a commitment to live with purpose. Congratulations.
