The Mothers 1971[Super Deluxe 8 CD]

Fillmore East 71 was always one of my least played Zappa Cds. This package changes that! I'm impressed with how tight this band is. Aynsley Dunbar gets a special mention as his drumming is spot on. The Rainbow show is the real jewel here. To hear the complete King Kong from this show is something I have wished for since getting YCDTOSA vol. 3 many years ago. It's now my favorite version of this classic tune. Just an amazing package that is fun and really puts you in the seats at the Fillmore in 1971! Thank you to the ZFT who keep hitting home run after home run with the archival releases. Everything we can hear of the vault contents is a gift and testament that during Frank's lifetime, we were only seeing the tip of the iceberg. He recorded so much brilliant stuff...only FZ heard every note but he was smart enough to roll tape to give us a window into his genius.

Don’t know where to start...All four shows at the Fillmore East are captured in their entirety.A bonus hybrid concert edited together from a couple of concerts from Pennsylvania.The complete Rainbow show, which unfortunately for many reasons was the last concert performed by the Flo & Eddie version of The Mother’s.Fantastic sound quality!Incredible improv segments with Billy the Mountain solo sections, King Kong, Pound For a Brown, and a Chunga’s Revenge thrown in there for good measure.This release captures the strengths of this band in a much better manner than the original Fillmore and Just Another Band From LA did. As others have stated, this release has caused a serious (POSITIVE) reassessment of this band.Even though George Duke was no longer in the band, this is a stronger performance unit than the 1970 Mothers. The group had “gelled” musically and was firing on all cylinders.

If you liked the original album featuring Flo and Eddie from the Turtles as well as the Zappa Jam with John and Yoko Live in NY city it has all on John and Yoko Jam ok for Historical value. And just Jammed full of Zappa and Flo and Eddie this was one of the best Zappa band 8 Disc is a must have believe me. Great package of this Band with additional music from the original concerts so if you liked the original album this is a must. Order yours today.

Overwhelming amount of music here. Most of it fantastic I could have done without the Lennon/Yoko jam with the Mothers, I mean Yoko is such a delight after all. 6 or 7 versions of " Billy The Mountain"?? After awhile it turns into a mutated version of elevator music that's interesting. Don't get me wrong...I love this stuff and it's GREAT stuff. BUY IT.

This 50th Anniversary set raises the bar on all such releases. Every note played at the 4 concert Fillmore run is here along with the Rainbow show and many other surprises. The sound quality is excellent. Flo and Eddie lead the way and the jams and improvs are great. Could be the best Zappa box yet.

Frank Zappa en una de sus mejores ediciones. Excelente BoxSet, junto con el de Orchestral 40 Aniversario de mis favoritos. El sonido es excelente, el trabajo de remezcla y remasterizaciòn de las cintas master en 16 canales de primer nivel. Disfrutable de principio a fin. Infaltable para seguidores del genio Zappa. Solo una precauciòn, escucharlo resulta adictivo. Saludos.

I have loved Mothers Fillmore East 1971 for many years and was curious about “the rest of the story”. The Flo and Eddie years are probably my favorite Mothers lineup. This set is probably best for collectors or others interested in this period of the group. But I definitely like it.

For me I can never too much of this band. Not a ton of songs I hadn't heard before but I never get tired of these.... Although as with many boxes sets, this is not a good introduction to zappa, but great for anyone who likes anything from the flo and Eddie years

First, I LOVE it! However, not everyone would appreciate it. First, many songs appear on other previous CD’s, even some identical performances. But the sequencing is there at last, the missing bits from the pencil-front album! My one gripe - there’s not enough room on my phone! I’m going to have to ditch some other albums…
