Works Good For Me and No Side Effects!
I did not experience the problems that a lot of people have claimed, but then I've been taking a large amount of prebiotics and changed my diet over the last four months. Scared by some of the reviews, I tried only a half scoop my first time, but after no side effects, the next evening I took a whole scoop before bed. Still no side effects, so I took a whole scoop the next morning wanting to switch to mornings. Here it is six hours later and still none of the horrible gas or needing to go to the bathroom that some say they experienced. What I did experience is that good feeling I used to have in my stomach that I have not felt for the last eight months since my stomach issues began. It's been a long road. I'm not saying this is the only product that helped get rid of my IBS symptoms, but it definitely helped. If you suffer from IBS related symptoms and gastritis as I did (even went to the ER twice, which I'm still paying for!) here is what I did to cure myself. 1) Stop taking PPIs. They are good for short-term relief but will only prolong your symptoms and make things worse in the long run. This is the only thing the doctor told me to do, which is to take a PPI. I was on it for four months with temporary relief, but the pain and sometimes overwhelming nausea always seemed to return with a vengeance. 2) Heal your gut - After months of research, and reading medical journals and articles, while on the PPI, the science proves it's your gut that is the problem. More specifically your gut bacteria. If your doctor says there is no scientific evidence to support gut flora being the cause of your IBS, get a doctor that keeps up with science in medicine. There is a ton of research out there thanks to the human microbiome project. Once I learned this and did research on which probiotics were the best to rebuild the protective layer of the gut, I bought these. (Perfect Pass Probiotic Bacillus Spore Human Strain) (Swanson L. Reuteri Probiotic Plus with L. Rhamnosus L. Acidophilus & FOS Prebiotic Digestive Support) And, of course, this wonderful product which now I wish I had found first, (Hyperbiotics Organic Prebiotic Powder) Also, you need to change your diet. Stop smoking, no alcohol, sweets, or bad carbs. The absolute best thing is to try to switch to a vegetarian diet mostly, but if you are like I was, even a heavy salad made your stomach extremely uncomfortable (almost had to leave work twice). So for about two months straight I ate jasmine rice, roasted chicken and gravy, and tried to get in a little veggie. My family is sick of chicken and rice! Now that I'm back to normal I'm switching to a heavy veggie diet. I NEVER want to go through that again!!!!!!! Gotta keep those little buggers in my gut flourishing and happy. So the chronology of my journey is this: First two months, two ER visits, and a bunch of tests that all came back negative. Sound familiar? Oh yeah, I was also put on three courses of antibiotics. Why was I on them? No idea! The test for H. Pylori came back negative! Next four months on PPI and doing my own research, because I got fed up with the doctor not being able to tell me why I had gastritis and not caring what the cause was, also started to change my diet after reading Fast Tract Digestion. Next two months on probiotics and prebiotics. It actually took less time to heal my gut than the doctor had me on the PPI. I know some may say I may have been on the mend already, but all I can say to that is it sure as heck didn't feel like it. I plan on making this prebiotic powder part of my daily routine for the foreseeable future.

Excellent quality Prebiotic. Add this to your list of must-have supplements
After years of antibiotic use, my gut issues had escalated and cause too many issues. Started using many supplements including probiotics and enzymes, but only after I incorporated prebiotics was when things really improved. After many years, don't use probiotic or enzyme supplements regularly, but continue to use this product. It gives the gut fuel for the good bacteria to thrive and increase mineral absorption. Promotes a healthy gut microbiome and a stronger immune system. As many have stated, all the way back to Hippocrates, all disease starts in the gut. Not 100% true, but when your gut is healthy, your health is greatly improved. The consistency of this product has been excellent and high quality. It does not have much taste which makes it easy to mix into a protein shake or smoothy, which is how I take it. Never tried mixing it into food. 1 scoop is around $0.50/serving which makes it a great value. Initially chose this one because it has 3 different ingredients. Others have 1 or 2 and they did not work as well. This product has made a difference in my life and my gut was finally healed and I now very rarely have any gut issues. I attribute much of it to incorporating this product. Highly recommended.

Great Stuff—Start Slow!
Have had gut issues for years and tried this stuff off and on and wasn’t sure at first, good or bad. Start slow as it can cause gas and loose stool. I gradually worked up to full dose and bloating and gas are MUCH improved. I mix in my morning collagen, green powder drink with a small fork in a mug. I will also just mix with water and drink as I stay away from juice and excess sugars. It mixes fairly well and will gel up a bit and clump if left too long. I cannot imagine taking off a star because it doesn’t mix well and don’t understand those reviews. This is good for you stuff, not a flavored drink. This doesn’t taste bad by any stretch and is almost flavorless. I don’t understand the need for all drinks to taste like a treat. All those additives used in other formulas (to make them taste like yummy milkshakes) and protein drinks are causing so many issues. I highly recommend giving up the junk and your tastebuds will adjust to real food without all the sugary crap. Drink filtered water and lose all those light diet drinks that contribute to ruining your gut, among other things. I still have some gut flare-ups when I give in to cravings and eat or drink things I know are bad for my gut—but that’s my bad. We can’t keep eating poison and expect to be cured—even with a great product such as this. Once I reached full dose of this on a daily basic, it made a huge difference over time—give it a few weeks. As an aside, I also take the Pro-Women Probiotics for urinary tract health and it is also great stuff! Have been taking both for well over a year and they are daily staples for me.

A Roller Coaster Ride for Me.
Hyperbiotics Organic Prebiotic Powder - Promotes Growth of Good Bacteria while Supporting Healthy Digestion (with Jerusalem Artichoke and Acacia Fiber) - 375g (54 servings) All together now, can we say "projectile vomiting"?! I took one scoop as directed and within 30 seconds my stomach erupted like a volcano. And, not to put too fine a point on it, this stuff and everything left in me was evacuating my body at both ends!!! No joke! I had to phone a friend for assistance or face taking an ambulance to the ER. Please, do read on.... Ironically, the product information specifically says : "AVOID STOMACH UPSET. Hyperbiotics Prebiotic is a proprietary blend that is designed with sensitive stomachs in mind. Acacia Fiber actually slows fermentation and reduces gas and bloating. What’s more, this complete prebiotic complex is an ideal mix of inulin, FOS, resistant starch and soluble dietary fiber that gently nourishes your gut and promotes the growth of your good bacteria, benefitting nearly every aspect of your health." There was nothing, ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to suggest that I would have such a violent reaction. So, why oh why did I give it 4 stars? About 5 days later (after the memories of my first experience were beginning to fade), I mixed about 1/8th a scoop into my rice dish. Over the course of a week I worked up to a full scoop. I had a little belching, and a little flatulence, but nothing else. Now, 3 weeks later, I don't even have that. What I do have is healthy regularity and satiety. I absolutely feel fuller longer and when I do eat, I consume much smaller portion sizes with absolutely no effort. Food doesn't even tempt me any more. For example, as a between meal snack, I am now satisfied with only 1/2 of a small apple when I used to eat 1 large one. As a second example, about once a month I visit this soft serve frozen yogurt place near me. They offer this small "tub" for you to fill as full as you'd like but the cost is never more than $5.00. I visited there last week for the first time since using the Hyperbiotics Organic Prebiotic Powder. For the first time ever in life, I walked out of that place with a tub that was only half full, rather than with a tub that was filled to overflowing!!!! Did you hear me? Close your eyes and hear me say these words, "I rarely feel hunger pangs anymore!" As if you're not convinced already, I will offer a third and final example. I usually visit this chain cafeteria place where a meal consists of an entree, 2 sides, and a bread. I've been going to that place since my college days 30 years ago. This time I purchased 3 chicken strips, 2 veggies and a dinner roll. The result? I tossed the dinner roll, ate 1 chicken strip and half a portion of the 2 veggies. I then saved the remainder as leftovers which I only ate THE NEXT DAY!!! Clearly my gut microbiome was not right before. Why else did I have such a violent reaction when no one else has? But now that the roller coaster ride has ended I'm getting excellent results. I don't yet recognize this new me but I'm loving her and I have Hyperbiotics Organic Prebiotic Powder to thank for every single bit of it! DISCLAIMER: I make no assertions you will experience the same appetite suppression effects that I now do. I'll be sure to update this post with further developments should they occur.

It's worth trying. UPDATED 2019
In late December 2017, I ended up getting food poising. Not sure exactly from what, because my roommate ate the same thing I did and had no issues. It effected me so severely I passed out and ended up in the ER, throwing up several times that evening. One of the worst nights of my life. The next 2 weeks I had AWEFUL stomach pains, cramps, gurgling that would wake a child the next room, and just felt awful. My entire digestive system was in terrible shape, and my whole body felt super duper out of balance. No probiotics, or stomach settling things helped. In an attempt to find something that would help me feel better, I went to the google to find help. I fell down the rabbit hole of an online ad for Dr. Gundry's formula about Prebiotics. A lot of his research made a lot of sense, and seemed worth trying. I absolutely did not want to pay the absurd price that he wanted for his "magical formula" he displayed as this cult like savior for all. So I turn to Amazon to see what is similar and cheaper. I came across this, and based on the reviews I decided to try it. So here are the changes I have made to my diet, part of which were take aways from Dr. Gundry's research blah blah blah video/commercial/propaganda. 1. STOP DRINKING ALL DIET DRINKS. It murders all good things in your digestive system. 2. Stay way from beans and tomatoes and nuts. Basically foods high in lectin. Look it up. 3. Take a prebiotic with a probiotic. So I've been adding 1 scoop of this to my morning coffee or yogurt. I like it better in my coffee because if you drink a dark roast you won't notice this at all. You are putting it in a hot water environment, so maybe I'm making it slightly less effective. Adding it to some greek yogurt works too, but the color isn't too attractive once you've mixed it all up. But you won't taste it either. So far I've done this for 1 year, and I feel so much better. No more stomach problems. I've lost around 20 lbs with the slight diet changes. Vegetables are your friends everyone. I feel way way better. I don't know if I can attribute my recovery to this powered stuff, but it certainly has played a part.

Decent results, shockingly bad flavor
I got this as an experiment to see if adding more insoluble fiber would firm up my BMs. I'm noticing mild improvements, not dissatisfied with the product on that front. But holy god, how did more reviews not talk about the flavor?? This stuff makes water taste like someone left a mashed up artichoke in your cup for a week. It smells, and I'm being very deliberate in my word choice here, like a fart. Not like mold, not like sweat, specifically like a fart. I've learned that black coffee covers up the flavor pretty well, so I'm getting through the jar anyway, but wow. If you're committed to trying this, take it in capsules or mix it with something very strongly flavored.

I recommend starting small (1/2 dose)
Okay... I've read the reviews, and I've got to say... For those of you who complain about gas, well... welcome to taking fiber for the first time. ALL fiber does this. I don't think this particular supplement is more than other fiber in that regard. It *will* subside if you've been taking it a while. Fiber is a bit tricky to supplement. Too little, and you don't see any improvement. Too much, and you end up a bloated mess running to the bathroom every 5 minutes. I recommend starting small (1/2 dose), and building up gradually (maybe 1/2 dose per day increase once weekly), but no more than 1 dose with a meal each day. It works best mixed with protein shakes in the morning. If you add to water only, expect an unpleasant experience. Also, don't take fiber on an empty stomach. It always works best when taken with food. Honestly, this is the best fiber I've come across. Soluble fiber is the preferred type of fiber to use, as it is gentle on the gut and helps lower cholesterol, etc. Insoluable fiber is good for pushing things through, but if you're an IBS or IBD patient, it should be strongly avoided. I will say this tends to be a bit more clumpy than some other soluable fiber supplements I've tried, but it comes from 3 different plants, versus Hydrolyzed Guar Gum (something like NutriSource Fiber Supplement Powder), which won't help your gut flora at all. Having a rich variety of fiber is important to gut health, as each of the flora want something a little different, so I'm willing to pay more to get a variety in one jar as opposed to going out and finding a lot of different fiber source supplements. There isn't a strong flavor here, but it does have a slight flavor of banana, which I really only noticed when I tried seeing what the raw taste of the fiber was. I found it pleasant, but not strong enough to notice once mixed. My suggestion for mixing this is to add your water to a blender FIRST, turn the blender on the lowest setting with lid on, then take the lid off with it running as long as you're reasonably confident the water isn't going to escape the blender... then add your fiber, then protein. Once mixed, you can turn off the blender, add any ice or fruit or anything else you want, then put the lid back on and turn the machine back on. Adding the powder at the bottom before the water just leads to a clumpy mess at the bottom of your containers that's difficult to clean. I use this supplement with protein shakes and soups in my vitamix daily, and I've noticed my gut seems a bit happier than with the other fiber supplements I've tried. Don't expect miracles from any fiber, but if you're going to take a fiber supplement, I strongly suggest this one be your go-to.
