fantasy story of kids' favorite things: dinosaurs and hamburgers
Children 2-6 years of age will love this book because it combines two things they love: dinosaurs and hamburgers! The book is written, illustrated, and published by a group of fathers, known collectively as Adison Books, who produced books for children. Scout, the hero of the book, is a dinosaur who, like all dinosaurs, is a "foodie." He loves to go to restaurants with other dinosaurs to eat sushi, chicken nuggets, pizza, and more. But Scout always felt that something was missing, so he sets out on an adventure to find the perfect food. He packs his bag and travels through treacherous terrain, high mountains, hot deserts, and thick swamps and discovers, in order, a "Bread Forest" full of buns, a forest of "Pickle Flowers," the great rivers of "Ket-chup" and "Mus-tard," and "Bacon and Patty Bushes." He realizes he has all the ingredients to make the perfect meal, so he reverses his route and returns home. The meal was good, but something was still missing, so Scout visits Dr. Ham, the smartest dinosaur in town, to see if they can find the missing ingredient. After scientific investigation, they find three additional ingredients: tomatoes, onions, and lettuce. The meal was so delicious that the dinosaurs named it after Dr. Ham Burger. The hamburger was a huge success and became very popular. Scout discovered the perfect food! Children will love this whimsical, funny, fantasy-based story; but the book would be improved if a final page featured a short reality-based essay that talked about real-life dinosaurs and the foods they ate. Alternatively, parents could use the storyline to introduce youngsters to more fact-based information about dinosaurs. The book is available as a hardcover ($14.99) and a paperback ($8.99), but I recommend purchasing the hardcover which will better withstand repeated readings. Highly recommended, with the caveat.

Delightful, Unique and Fun!
I loved this book and know that it will be a hit with the Grandchildren. It's different, it's funny, silly, colourful and hopefully will encourage children to add some of those healthy ingredients to their hamburgers as they read about dinosaurs finding the perfect 'dish'.
