No clump thickening! Great product! Value sized!
I love how smooth & non clumping this product is to use! I’ve used the product extensively , especially for making fruit leathers! It has thickened anything I’ve set my mind on thickening, from a fruit puree’, to fruit juice! I love it for making gravy, and thickening stews & soups, as it never clumps! The large size is perfect for someone like me!

Nachtrag 1 Jahr später: die Qualität der eingekochten Äpfel ist weiterhin 1A! Die Stärke ist einfach super! Ich koche und backe seit Jahren viele us-amerikanische Rezepte und habe ich mich zuletzt auch an Apple Pie getraut. Wir haben dieses Jahr so viele Äpfel im Garten gepflückt und diese wollte ich haltbar machen und bin auf ein Rezept für Apple Pie Filling zum Einkochen gestoßen - dafür brauchte ich Clear Jel. Dank Amazon war dies kein Problem - meiner Suche nach gibt es in Deutschland nichts vergleichbares. Die Stärke klumpt nicht und verwandelt sich beim Einkochen in klares Gel. Das tolle ist, dass die eingekochte Füllung nach dem Abkühlen in den Gläsern wieder erhitzt werden kann - eben beim backen des Pies mit der Füllung - und sich keine Klumpen bilden, wie es mit normaler Stärke der Fall wäre. Die Stärke ist in einem Kunststoffbehälter verpackt und sicher versiegelt. Haltbarkeit ist ebenso top! Ich werde definitiv noch mehr damit Einkochen und mich auch daran versuchen, das Clear Jel zum Kochen und Backen zu nutzen. Es lohnt sich !

This is the first time I ever used clear jel, as I’ve never made canned pie filling before. It thickened the sugar & spices for the sauce part of my apple pie filling quickly. After boiling the filled jars for 30 minutes to sterilize & seal - the pie filling still held the same consistency & clarity. I also found there was no starchy after taste either.

I have got into canning food at home and my research led me to purchase a pack of this Clearjel cornstarch product. It works very well - very similar to the job done by bog standard cornflour but remains stable during the intense heat of the pressure canning process. However I was frustrated to find it out of stock when I came to buy a second pack. This led me to research what exactly Clearjel is. Turns out it is something called 'waxy maize starch'. Apparently beloved by body builders and so I purchased a pack of Peak Supplements waxy maize powder and gave it a try in some vegetable soup. Worked like a dream! Time will tell if it stands up to lengthy storage and then reheating, but a jar reheated, kept its thickness perfectly.

Haven't used the clear jel yet from this order, however, I have purchased this same container in the past and it has worked very well. Takes a bit of time to thicken which is normal, but once it starts to thicken, it happens very quickly. Home made pie filling is light years better in taste than canned filling.
