Incredible
I thought the second book will be a tad boring. But I was so wrong. Sue Lynn Tan in her inimitable style weaves the magic again. I wasn’t a reader anymore, witnessing the characters’ emotions from the border. I became a part of the book, so engrossing was the book. In short I didn’t want it to end. I wish went on and on.

Why books in a series are of different sizes!
Oh I love the series. Both books. Might post whole of the book review sometime later.But. What I don't understand is this -

Best read for 2025!
Might contain spoiler:I’m so in love with this book duology, especially Prince Wnzhi that I decided to get a new set of nails based on him and Xingyin🥰 I put together the elements in the book right down to the color of Wenzhi’s robe🥰 I cried when he died as I never once imagined him dying but ohhh the ending…sigh!! The author is definitely my new favourite because she writes so so beautifully and the book is appropriate for all ages. I even bought the othwr book Tales of the Celestial Kingdom☺️

Nicely written and concluded
Read this book and now convinced that Wenzhi is the true equal to the female lead. Happy to have an ending like that.

So glad to have read this duology!
This one was filled with risks and most of the kingdoms coming together to overthrow a common enemy. It was just as good as the first book, in my opinion, except for the love triangle and the way it broke my heart for some of the characters. They deserve better and I wish they could’ve gotten a different ending but overall I really had a great time reading this one!

Lookout Mulan, you have competition in Xingyin
A strong female protagonist who is no shrinking wall flower and owns all the choices she makes - good, bad and gray. In some ways she reminded me of Mulan, my favourite princess movie to date. This is the second part in the Celestial Kingdom duology and I thoroughly enjoyed being thrust back into Xingyin’s world. And going along on her adventures and quests.Sue Lynn Tan writes in such that we are able to relate to the characters and see and feel from their perspectives.I highly recommend not only this book but the first part of this duology too.10/10 recommend for people looking to read about a woman who knows her mind and her heart and will fight to make herself heard.

Left me wanting more!
I started this book as soon as I finished The Daughter of the Moon Goddess. The first book in the series didn’t end in a cliffhanger, with the second book written as a sequel to the previous story. While I loved both the books a lot, I would have loved to see a little more romance and maybe a happily ever after for Xingyin, though the book concluded with a promise of one. The main characters of the story went through so much, lost so much, that one feels it would be a befitting end to see them living happily after everything they went through, and though the story shows that each gets what they wanted in the end, the hopeless romantic in me wanted more, more happiness, more romance maybe :) That said, the story was great and I recommend it to anyone who loves Chinese xianxia dramas!

GOOD READ
This is the second book from the duology Daughter of the Moon Goddess.Xingyin returns home in peace after her mother's release. As the celestial kingdom takes unexpected turns, an ominous menace sweeps across the moon. Xingyin is determined to evade the growing threat. However, the unveiling of an unexpected fact drives her into a perilous conflict.Xingyin once again is forced to flee her home. This time, she must confront the truth of her heart and strive through the devastation to stand against this evil before it destroys everything she holds dearest, even though it comes with the greatest price. The writing of the author beautifully combines love, grief, treachery and magic. The characters and magical realm buildup were brilliant. It's fast-paced and an easy read with mysterious plot twists. The slow burn between Xingyin and Wenzhi was intense, and the chaos in the love triangle was outstanding.Although, I didn't enjoy it as much as the first book, still it was a good 4 ⭐ read.
