My two year-old's very favorite bedtime book... and mine too.
My two year-old adores this book. She asks for it as often as her other favorites, the classic Good Night Moon, and I Dare You! by Nicole Maubert. All other books in her large collection are frequently in rotation, but those three have a place of honor. The text is all written in a very kid-friendly all-caps font that swirls and weaves through the illustrations. It's the only book we own where my toddler seems as interested in the text as she is in the pictures. It also encourages parents to play up the voices - for example, the word "yawn" is written YAAAAAAWN in text that gradually tapers off, just like a real yawn would. The book also has lots of opportunities for parents to practice their voice acting (in our house, each animal has their own voice, which my daughter loves!).The story starts off very silly but transitions into a much calmer read about halfway through the book, when Susie Sue narrates a story to put the animals to sleep. It's a great trick to get our daughter in the right frame of mind for bed - she can start out giggling and fully attentive, and then calm down as the characters do. I do wish it came in a hardback edition, as our own copy is only a year old but is already well-loved.

A bedtime favorite
This product has been loved by my daughter since she was small (2). Lost it for a while then repurchased it for her whose now 7. She likes to read it on her own now, and it has silly rhymes so I think it suits any age. Good for transitioning kids to their own beds, and helping them not be so afraid. I look forward to reading it to my new baby.

A PERFECT BOOK FOR A LITTLE ONE WHO IS STRUGGLING WITH ENJOYING THEIR VERY OWN BED!
I ordered this book for our two year old granddaughter who would much rather sleep in Mommy and Daddy's bed than in her own Toddler Bed. She absolutely LOVES the book, and relates to little Suzy Sue in the book very well. In the book, Suzy Sue finds out that her bed "doesn't feel quite right" because all of her animal friends are in her little bed too, and there's no room for her. Our little Sam has TONS of stuffed animals, and always wanted all of them in bed with her. Since reading this book, we've made a little "bed" for some of her animals, and each night she picks who sleeps in their own bed and who sleeps with her. While its not a miracle cure for making Sam stay in her own bed all the time, it has helped her value the fact that she has her own special bed, which is a big plus! :-)

Sweet story great rhythm
My daughter loves this book and so do I! It’s a sweet story and has a great rhythm to it. We bought it to convince my toddler she is ready for a big bed and it definitely helped!

great book!
Super cute. We got a few books to help my 2 YO transition from her crib to her toddler bed and this has been (BY FAR) the winner and favorite of the bunch! Reco for slightly older kids, too! Out of all of the books we tried that focused on sleeping in a big kid bed this is my favorite because it points out to kids that its not truly about getting into bed, the real issue is learning to calm yourself and work on going to sleep.

Easier bedtime
Great book to transition to a new bed. The first line is that the protagonist brushed her teeth, which provides an opportunity to ask my toddler the same. And much to my surprise, the kid is suddenly willing to brush...so there’s that.

Great and cute book
My 5 year old daughter loves it. We have 'Have you seen my potty' and 'Achoo' from same author and this is another excellent book. My duaghter was potty training when we had 'have you seen my potty' and she giggled a lot reading the book with me finishing up a potty training completely at 15 months old. Even after finishing a potty training, she kept reading a 'Have you seen my potty' book on and on. Now she is in kind of sleeping on her own and I am very happy to find 'A bed of your own'. I really appreciate the writer.

Worked to get my toddler to sleep by themselves in their own bed!
After my 2 year old never once sleeping in her own bed or the night through I was preparing for a battle to get her to sleep by herself. Bought this book to start reading to her to get her in the mindframe of sleeping in her own bed. Miraculously after reading for only 5 nights to her before bed she told my husband to “get out” of her bed and went to sleep by herself and stayed asleep all night for the first time in 2 years. And even better has continued to sleep in her own bed ever since. Totally gobsmacked!! Of all the ‘sleep training’ books/gadgets out there this very simple book did the job painlessly within 5days! Can’t recommend it high enough to give it a go - you certainly won’t be sorry if it works as miraculously as it did for us. (The story is slightly too long and wordy for my 2 year old but I just read around the lines or simplify the words in places when I read it to her. The pictures are fantastic and it has actually also helped her to say the words cow horse goat and sheep - who all get into Suzy sues bed! Winner all round!)

Fun rhyming story about bedtime, great for toddlers
My 2 year old (25 months) loves listening to me reading this story to him at bedtime & has started randomly reciting bits and pieces of it while we're out & about. We will soon be transitioning to a toddler bed so I'm hoping it will help!In any case, the book has a fun rhyming scheme throughout, unlike some baby books I don't get bored reading it over and over (yet..!), toddler laughs when the sheep says "let go of my nose""Plot" synopsis: A little girl (Suzy-Sue) is struggling to get to sleep in her bed - but that's because there are 4 large animals who have sneaked into bed with her. She marches them back to their own bed & then tries to get them to go to sleep... falling asleep herself in the process. There are no adults/family mentioned in the story.

Good book, disappointed with seller
Lovely book. My daughter is not ready for her own bed yet so she's not really keen on it yet. Hasn't let me finish the story, not once. Book arrived as described. However I was a little disappointed to find out it was resold from a charity shop, as the sticker for 50p was still on the back of all three books I bought from the same author, same seller. One of them was described as good condition but was pretty worn. I'm happy to have a few of the books from this author, despite the issues above.

Effective for getting child into her own bed
My almost 2.5 year old daughter regularly asks for this as a bed time story. She loves the story, especially when I do a silly voice for each character. The story is interesting and engaging and ends up with the main character (a little girl called Susie Sue) sleeping in her own bed. This opens up a discussion with my little girl about her being in her own bed, and she will happily go to sleep in her own bed (although not necessarily stay there all night!).

Bought in desperate times
We bought this book at the same time we bought our 3 year old son a clock that changes colour when he can get out of bed. He was in our bed every night and now a few months later he doesn't come into bed with us at all in the night. If it was the book or the clock or just his age, who can say. I do like the concept of this book and it's fun and well written and engaging for young children. It's worth a try if your child just can't stay in their bed.
