Product Description Chris Daughtry's sturdy rock presence and distinctive vocal style won the hearts and minds of American Idol Season 5 fans across the globe. On his debut record for 19 Recordings/ RCA Records, Chris will be fronting his own band, Daughtry, and fans can expect the same cutting edge attitude and startling rock immediacy that made Chris a household name. With noted rock producer Howard Benson at the board, Daughtry's is the first Idol album with most of the songs written or co-written by the singer. A host of high-profile artists are also working with Chris as writing partners. Chris' track 'Wanted Dead Or Alive' is the most downloaded track from the America Idol Season 5 encores album with more that 100,000 downloads and still counting. Chris is by far the fans' favorite and is consistently singled out as the most talented performer in every review of the tour: 'Daughtry proved that he's b far the most talented performer in Idol history.' -St. Petersburg Times. .com Chris Daughtry starts his first post-American Idol disc with a song whose title reviewers coast to coast will be grateful for: "It's Not Over." What an understatement. For the Idol-watching rock fan's money, nobody--not even Southern-fried heartthrob Bo Bice in season four--stormed the stage with more raw talent. That it translates so well to a solo disc (Daughtry was recorded with studio musicians; future discs will include a Daughtry-assembled band) proves all he needed was a little prodding, the kind the tube has gotten so good at. Here are a dozen songs that'll flick your rock & roll switch, whether you're a Creed fan, a club kid, or a mambo king: "Used To" and "Over You," a couple of early tracks, ought to arrive bundled with a road map they're so highway sing-along-ready, and "Feels Like Tonight" screws the lid on the premise that Daughtry can deliver a punchy pop-rock song without flinching. Elsewhere, the North Carolina family man lets his inner (and outer, actually) goatee- and eyeliner-type guy rip: his built-for-the-hard-stuff voice bites down appealingly on "Breakdown," a dark serenade to mental health, and also on "What I Want," an '80s-style fist-pumper featuring Slash. The loud mad dash of those songs leads to a midtempo wind-down ("All These Lives," "What About Now"), but as a mix, it works. Daughtry is a man of many moods--contemplative, explosive, insistent, humble. No matter which pokes through on a given song, he steadies it to a place as honest as it is accessible. Rare is the rocker who lays out so broad an on-ramp. --Tammy La Gorce

May Chris Daughtry and company live on forever...
For over a decade now, Chris Daughtry and his band have rocked the world with their chart-topping hits. Listening to all 12 tracks, you would never really know that Chris was once on American Idol (and sadly, he did not win first place for that year's competition) because his awesome, rock-style voice simply doesn't show it. Most casual listeners would easily compare this band to Nickelback or 3 Doors Down but, for me, Daughtry is forever important in my CD collection. For a very impressive debut, Chris assembled studio musicians (most notably, Phil X) and recruited producer Howard Benson (Flyleaf), giving this entire album a raw, edgy, gritty, yet polished, monster-driven, hit-laden shine. And Daughtry enjoyed the success of having not less than 5 mega-smashes to their name: 'It's Not Over', 'Home', the breakup anthem 'Over You', 'Feels Like Tonight', and the faith/hope inspired 'What About Now?' However, the BIGGEST surprise is guitar hero/legend Slash (Guns 'N' Roses, Velvet Revolver), delivering a walloping, healing, full-of-emotion guitar solo on 'What I Want.'This would only be the beginning of Daughtry, as Chris would continue to crank out even MORE hits on his next 3 records. And now that it's 2017, perhaps it's time for him to produce another record?! :)

Required Daughtry
I am not an American Idol fanatic. I watch a show here or there. Mostly it annoys me. I did watch more of the season Chris Daughtry was on. When he didn't make it to number one I wasn't disappointed because I knew he'd be picked up by better. Daughtry is easily THE BEST musician to come from that show. (Granted Carrie Underwood and Kelly Clarkson are extremely talented in their own rights.) I'd like to think he would have made it regardless. For me he has the same energy as some other just jeans & rock bands I love, like Tesla, Tom Petty. He has the voice that hooks you in and the band has the talent to keep you there.I love his music and am not going to review every song. I think he has some amazing lyrics and arrangements. What I have to say about this album is the cover of Foreigner's "Feels Like The First Time" is both eery and beautifully updated. In the ranks of covers such as Shinedown doing Lynryd Skynryd's "Simple Man", Metallica doing Bob Seger's "Turn the Page" and Tesla's cover of "Signs" (honest - not sure who recorded this first. For some reason thought Golden Earring but do not know).Another great thing about Daughtry - I love it when a song has the same amazing feeling for me when it's unplugged. Completely delivered here.My tastes are varied, leaning towards hard rock, metal, classic rock with a dose of just about everything else here and there. Daughtry has quickly become one of my standards.

Didn't watch this American Idol season
In fact, the only American Idol seasons I've watched are the 1st and current seasons. I'm impressed with this CD, and I'll more than likely buy his next album. I can listen to the whole CD without skipping songs. Which says a lot, since most of my CDs have at least one song that I don't care for. I'd rate him up there with Disturbed and System of a Down(I'm only comparing song quality, and not saying they're all the same style). It'll be tough for him to follow up this CD, but I'm sure he'll be able to do it.It's awesome to finally get a quality product from the "music" industry. I think the success of this CD speaks for itself too, and who should have truly won the American Idol title for this particular season. But seeing this latest season, and the first season, is that American Idol isn't a singing competition. It's more of a High School Government election, where popularity and misguided reality outway quality and competance. It would be nice to see the producers of this program change the voting system to force the Judges to do more than sit there and give opinions that don't really matter.

Damn Good Stuff!!!!!
I must start off by saying,I never watched 1 second of American Idol, but have discovered around three real good artists from the show. Daughtry,of course, along with Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood.I would have never known they were on the show,If I didn't read or hear about it.Anyway, bottom line is,this Daughtry album is HOT stuff. When I first heard the name,I thought the music would be a bore, but was I surprised.I heard the first song,It's Not Over(which has grown on me),Home( A cool ballad) and heard another song on alternate radio,What I Want(w/ Slash). The latter, which made me buy the album.Being a BIG fan of Guns N Roses and VR, Slash did a great job with Daughtry and turned a very cool rocker.Along with those songs,Used To,Over You and Feels Like Tonight, the album is real good.Don't think I will ever watch AI,but hope to hear some other artists, with the rockin'sounds of Daughtry come in the future.Like many have said,Daughtry has a similar sound to Nickelback.I'm a BIG fan of mainstream rock and rock period...Daughtry is one who,I'm sure, will be on the charts for a LONG time!!!!!!

Very good 1st release
I really enjoyed Chris on American Idol, and like many others, was devastated and shocked the week he was eliminated. In my opinion, he should have won the competition. I waited for a while after this album was released to purchase this album. I know that a lot of the AI artists go on to make albums and some are good, and others are not so good. I guess this was the reason that I waited.Well, I shouldn't have waited so long. I am not going to give an opinion of every song, song by song, but I will say this, no two songs sound alike. That is the first thing I look for. It is one thing to stay true to your genre of music, but something else all together to keep some variety. I am really enjoying the album, and once again, I wish I would have bought it sooner. I only hope his second album is as good or better than the first.

Good, If Dull
Whilst I've never liked the way it short cuts artists to chart stardom, I have found myself liking quite a few of the acts made famous by "Pop Idol" and the like. But I got a bit of a shock when I heard an artist I would have liked no matter where he had come from and it turned out he had been in "American Idol".Even more surprising, at least to me, was that he didn't even make the final, although he was given a record deal on the strength of his performances on the show. He's coming to the attention of some fairly major people as well, having had his music used on a later series of the show and being tipped as once of their acts to watch in 2008 by the MSN Music website.Of course, being tipped for success by music journalists is no guarantee that the music will be any good. Nor is being plucked from nowhere by the record companies based on a TV appearance, as many a reality show winner and loser has subsequently discovered. TV may get an artist to the top, but the quality of the music is the only thing that will keep them there. As someone who has been a fan of Nickelback and The Calling for a while, as well as a recent convert to both Audioslave and Velvet Revolver, this album contains everything I would want from a decent rock album. Unfortunately, the album is essentially a one trick pony and it insists on repeating the same kind of song over and over again. The overall sound here is one I'm a big fan of, but when it is repeated with only brief and minor variations over 13 tracks and 47 minutes, it does become a little dull after a while. This is an album that is best suited to be put on a music player with several other albums and played on a "random" setting. That way you can still enjoy the songs individually without becoming bored with the repetition. Given that this is how I tend to play my music, this means the album works quite well for me, as I'm a fan of this kind of music. This is really only one for fans of the soft pop-rock genre of music. If you like Nickelback and The Calling and possibly Creed and Hoobastank, you'll be able to listen to the album all the way through and enjoy it. If Daughtry is going to be your kind of music, then this is a well crafted album and well worth a listen and it's only the lack of variation in sound that lets it down for me. Daughtry certainly proves here that he has the talent to go a long way in the industry; he just needs to develop a wider range of sound to ensure that people don't get bored of him too quickly. This review may also appear, in whole or in part, under my name at any or all of www.ciao.co.uk, www.thebookbag.co.uk, www.goodreads.com, www.amazon.co.uk and www.dooyoo.co.uk

Awesome
Fantastic album. Every time I play this it just sounds better and better. Daughtry's got a fab voice and coupled with the fact that he writes his own songs means he's got real talent. I definitely prefer his more "edgy" songs but there's not a dud number on here. If you like Nickleback but maybe something that's not quite so heavy, you will definitely not be disappointed with this. Why can't our X Factor produce someone like this? Awesome!

What American Idol's loss is our gain
Chris Daughtry, when voted off American Idol, decided to stick the two fingered salute to the judges and release this album with his group. The album is fantastic. It's the type of disc where you can associate at least one or two of the tracks with your own personal experiences. Chris wrote this album from his heart and the song 'Home' is just about the highs and lows of a band touring. Can't wait to see if they do a 2nd album.
